Lisa Marie Presley
I didn't think much of her first effort. She sounded like a famous person's kid who got all this help from the industry without much talent. Not even in the same league as the old man
underrated or unheard of musician/band
Garland Jeffries, rock/reggae/soul. Excellent music, "GhosT Writers" is probably his best. Butts Band - Only had two albums, you can get both on one cd from Amazon. Robby Kreiger and John Densmore from the Doors were in this band after Jim died.Ca...
Marshall Tucker Re-masters
As i said, "Where we all belong" sounds great. I haven't heard the others.
What are the characteristics quality recordings?
I keep waiting for examples of compression in cd's, very few responses other than the general comment, "most cd's are compressed, blah, blah, blah", no specifics. Also, don't you think classical and jazz music has much more dynamic variation than ...
Best Quality Recording On Vynil
I really like the sound and musical performance of the Tom Rush LP - "Best of Tom Rush", the one with "Hobo's mandolin" on it. Great folk/rock
new music recommendations
I'm into Americana/alt-country/roots rock type of things. Kind of a combination of Country, punk, blues, blugrass/folk, and rock n roll jumbled together. A specific band may lean towards one type more than others, but all are definitely not slick ...
The majic of early 1970's rock and it's influence-
I grew up with this music, so of course I think a lot of it is great. Of course there was also a lot of crap made then, all you have to do is look at a top 40 list from that era. But, I think one of the reasons they were great is the music was new....
Where has the respect gone?
Obviously, if you're a liar or a cheat then you have NO place here. However, disagreements of opinion on all things audio is a good thing. It promotes discussion and learning. I try not to attack a person, but rather his/her ideas/opinion if I dis...
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
I don't know you, but I can tell you are blessed with a wonderful, loving wife, and great friends. You are indeed a lucky man. Best wishes for a happy new year, good luck.
SA-CD/DVD-A?
IMHO you can buy hybrid sacd without fear. For those who don't know, they have a redbook cd layer and a sacd layer. You don't need a sacd player to play the redbook layer. The redbook layer, for me so far anyway, has been the best sounding cd vers...
Why do mass marketed CD's sound so crappy?
Could I have a few examples of rock music that is considered well recorded, not terribly compressed? Thanks
Why do mass marketed CD's sound so crappy?
By mass marketed do you mean popular, huge sales? I buy quite a few cd's, and think the majority sound at least ok. Of course I favor the more obscure, or lower selling artists like Mark Knopfler, Richard Thompson, or old jazz like Miles or Coltra...
Beatles re-released stereo first 4 Albums
I thought "Let it be - Naked" was good. All you Beatle buffs, Ben, what's up with these releases?
ultimate final word 2 on best speakers
I like Nestorovics and Coincidence. As far as importance I think speakers are the MOST important link in the chain, with the qualification that you need at least decent electronics. Certainly the better quality "everything" that you have will make...
SACD/CD Question
I disagree with those who say don't buy a sacd hybrid unless you are going to buy a sacd player in the near future. From my experience so far, the cd layer on a hybrid is the best sounding version of the performance (when comparing it to other cd ...
