Dr. Ebbetts Beatles CD's Does anyone know why we can't get official releases of the Beatles catalog that are actually high rez/real mono whatever like the Stones (well Abkco) have done and Dylan has done and the Kinks and numerous others? Do all the fans who actually grew...
Your favorite recent discovery Wilco, "Sky Blue Sky" is a good & very good sounding cd.
Jethro Tull...any cd's to stay away from? The Live Aqualung sounds pretty good. it was done for a benefit. pretty easy to find.
Led Zeppelin-newly remastered I bought the jap version of led zep 3. it was costly but it sounds really good. Any opinions on others from the land of the " rising sun." Including other bands. Thanks
The Doors DCC Gold vs. remasters..opinions? I think the Doors 40th anniversery re-masters are great. The previous re-masters are good too but the 40th's give a different take from what us oldsters are use to and it sounds great.
Best recordings to demonstrate soundstage? Sky Blue Sky, by Wilco has what I think is excellent soundstage plus has good dynamics. Kind of alt/country, sort of low key with good rock/dynamic moments.
Best sound on classic rock cds Who's next - deluxe edition. "Tommy" hybrid sacd deluxe edition. Live at Leeds, the two disc version with Tommy live. 40th anniversery DOORS, all are great. CCR - hybrid sacd from Acoustic sounds, yum. Tull re-masters are generally good. Yes, re-m...
Best mastered recordings What a shame ! That so much great music is being destroyed by completely ignorant engineers/ artists or both. Another thread talks about Bob Ludwig doing a very poor job on the latest Springsteen disc, "Magic." Since I know Ludwig did a great job ...
What Volume do you listen at? One thing I have learned is to wear ear protection for everything but listening to music. Such as lawn mowing, chainsawing, snow blowing etc. This saves the ears for music listening.
Anyone heard a K2 HD CD yet? I like sacd hybrids, however, it is amazing, no matter what the format, how so many artists/recording engineers can screw up a recording. You almost have to believe they listen to what they just recorded on a ghetto blaster.
CD's no longer supported ? Look at your top forty, music I basically can't stand, the stuff that is made for the youngsters, loud - compressed - mp3 ready, downloadable, singles. These artists may not support cd's, or their masters at the record company don't- this is pure ...
Best Source For Quality Jazz CDs? I second the jazz record mart in Chicago, Great selection of jazz and also blues if that interests you. Really, the best in the world. Go there for a weekend, good time.
Did anyone see the Rolling Stone article? This goes back to an old post I made where I thought that there is TOO MUCH music (noise) all the time wherever you go - supermarket, restaurant, gas station, everywhere - and all very poor quality. No silence or just the sound of life. It's crapp...
SACD releases Check out the site, Acoustic Sounds.
Led Zeppelin-newly remastered I don't know what the 80's diament is/what ? I assume that is the first Led Zeppelin cd's that came out. The Page re-masters in the 90's is better than those period, imhop. The recorded volume level is not much different imhop but the detail is be... |
