SACD hybrids bad policy from Sony/Columbia? Those who want sacd won't care about cheaper cd. Those who don't care about sacd will be happy the re-issues are cheaper. However, I don't understand why a person would buy the redbook cd if they had the choice between that and a hybrid cd? You ge...
What Do You Get When You Spend Megabucks? IMHO very little. You do have to spend close to $10,000 retail to get REAL high end equipment. Used, maybe $5000. There is a level you have to reach, after that it's all individual preference. Then as Edainwestoc said, most improvement will come f...
Limits? It's probably the wallet. Not that I can't afford to buy more music, but I refuse to pay the inflated price of cd's. Really, I feel like I'm being taken advantage of when I pay $16.99 or $18.99 for a single disc, or $29.99 for a double. I won't do...
The Best Live album Thanks waltersalas, Tek, I also dig Crossroads 2. I've listened to A lot of Clapton and I think this is some of the best guitar he has recorded. It will convince the doubters that when Eric is into it, he may be the best.

would you bother? It really doesn't make much sense unless you are convinced that vinyl is way superior in sound to digital, and that is your main concern. Many vinyl disciples have a huge investment in records that they have been collecting for decades. If I had a...
The Best Live album Waltersalas, I've heard a lot about the Village Vanguard as far as a jazz venue, are the performances recorded there usually of high quality, music/sound wise?
Talkin' bout YOUR generation... First, the Beatles and Beach Boys when I was around 11, then the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Tull, Cream, Mountain, Spirit, and the Who as I worked my way through high school.
SACD hybrids bad policy from Sony/Columbia? I don't see what Sony/Columbia is attempting to do by releasing a new batch of redbook CD (only) Dylan? Hybrids are a great idea. Even if you only want redbook CD it still gives you the option later to go to SACD if you choose. I don't see the dow...
Oh My, power outages, help yes, I have a surge protector for electricity from the outlet to my gear. However, that doesn't do anything for me as far as protecting my speakers from power outages. I'm saying, when the power goes out at my house, that causes the same thing as ...
Jazz Recommendations One more. Fritzel's Jazz Band. You probably have to go to New Orleans to get this one, at Fritzel's Europeon Jazz Club on Bourbon St. They have live jazz there most nights, really good New Orleans style jazz. Some of the best musicians in town jam...
Jazz Recommendations Ray Brown Trio. 2 fer cd live "The Red Hot", and "Bam, Bam, Bam." Just excellent piano, bass, & drums. A swinging good time and excellent sound. There is some crowd noise, but to me it doesn't detract from the performances at all.
New Yes Remasters? I just got "The Yes Album" and it sounds great. I'm a big fan of remasters. Many of the 60's and early seventies classics were poorly done on cd originally. Almost all of the remasters I've got have been a big improvement over the original release...
Nestorovic Owners I have Nestorovic 5AS speakers, t-cabinet. I bought them in the late 80's. I still love them as much as ever. What's up?
Can you help with music selection? Alice Spencer, sings for Victrola, "Live as you like" (on other posts too). This is REALLY GOOD!Tiff Merritt - "Tiff Merritt" |
