Cooling fan for tube amp?
Great suggestions, but I need a fan to be mounted on the back of the rack to cool the amp.  Just a wee bit of air movement will suffice.
Why are there so many wooden speakers?
I think our collective chains are being yanked by the OP, but the clever responses by folks far more witty than me have made this an interesting thread.  So far as I can see, MDF is an "engineered" wood product, but more immune to resonance issues...
IsoAcoustics GAIA footers: impressions
Ray,This is an intriguing product line of isolation devices which strike me as very affordable.  Thanks for the post, I will have a further look at them.  There are many paths to excellent isolation devices and there is solid science behind their ...
Best bookshelf loudspeakers under 10,000 for the pair
The Joseph Audio Pulsars and Dynaudio C-1's are fantastic standmount speakers, but similarly worthy are the Buchardt S400 speakers which are vastly less expensive and perform very similarly.  You can audition their speakers free with no shipping c...
IsoAcoustics GAIA footers: impressions
I am using these inexpensive isolation pads under my Don Sachs' tube amp and I sense a bit lower sound floor to the music, but it might well be "confirmation bias."  At any rate, they are worth a try.   https://www.amazon.com/PneumaticPlus-Anti-Vi...
Recommendations for a tonearm upgrade on a VPI Classic 4 turntable
ha ha, fair enough.  I am a pensioner and my final straw was when my active cat jumped on my tone arm and destroyed the stylus on my Dynavector cartridge. With my digital music, no pops, no clicks, no cleaning records, and no worries about what to...
Recommendations for a tonearm upgrade on a VPI Classic 4 turntable
I can relate to your tonearm woes.  I switched from my Sota Sapphire vacuum table with an SAEC 407 tonearm and Dynavector 20X2 LOMC to a modified Oppo 205D CDP.  I have never second-guessed the decision.
Power strip for sequenced preamp/amp turn on and turn off?
It depends on the number of connections you need for your gear, but TLP is a reliable source for power conditioners.   I got their TF110 power conditioner, but I honestly can't say that there was any SQ improvement in the sound of my system.  The ...
John Prine, singer, songwriter, legend - Dead at 73 from COVID-19
I share in the grief of his passing, one of the greatest songwriters of our generation with a voice perfectly suited for his lyrics.  I loved his music for ~40 years.  RIP, JP.
IsoAcoustics GAIA footers: impressions
Select-hifi,You auditioned them and found them not to your pleasure so good for you... but you did try them.  I am frankly amazed that raising the level at couple of inches so adversely affected the sound of your speakers.  Raising the vertical he...
True wireless earbuds 100 or less, for classical
I can't get any earbuds to stay in my ears unless they are used with Yurbuds, which I think JBL or somebody now sells.   They are a wonderful invention.
IsoAcoustics GAIA footers: impressions
Holy cow, it is amazing that a Youtube video could reveal this enhancement with the GAIA footers.  My test with tube rolling and other enhancements (tweaks) is that if I don't recognize the improvement immediately, they are a bust.  I have tried g...
Buchardt S400 Special Edition speakers -- any impressions?
Snapsc,The Buchardts have an astonishing soundstage, rivaling that of the Spatials.  I clearly think former has more inner detail and are just so tonally pure.  Noticable with the Buchardts is how incredible quick they are with no hangover, if you...
Buchardt S400 Special Edition speakers -- any impressions?
Geoff, Not yet, it remains unopened.
$3000 stand mounted speakers?
My recommendation is the Buchardt Audio S400 SE speakers.  They are  remarkably full-ranged speakers that contend with Dynaudio C-1 Contours or Joseph Audio Pulsars. They cost $2700 with a free audition period.  I am blown away with them in my sys...
