Tubes: a dummy at a loss for an explanation To go further than Lewm, replace just the JJ 6922's first and see if the problem returns, then do the same with the 300B's. Lewm, is correct that by removing and inserting tubes you may have corrected it, but to remove the possibility of a single ...
Can even a Novice hear differences in Sound Qualit A tangent or sidebarSACD and DVD-A were hurt more, IMO, by their makers who refused to remember their earlier experience with going from mono to stereo. The price increase was all of $1.00. Had they done a simiiliar, maybe $2.00 difference these f...
I built my own Turntable and here are the results Wonderfully impressive production. Anything more you would be willing to share of its sound, build, etc.?Absolutely stupendous achievement. Congratulations on a job well done.Michael
30 ft rca run too long for a phono to preamp? Have read fairly consistently that after about 15 to 20 feet, some say longer, a balanced interconnect is better than an RCA. If you have to go 30 feet, go for balanced, if your pre-amp allows for it,though you can get balance to rca adapters, but...

Anyone with a recommendation for a monoblock? Have had the B&W 804 matrix and never had a problem with tubes, either C-J MV 52 or their Premier 11a, more power more singing, great combo
New TT Design: The Linos Portable Very neat idea, maybe not top of the line audiophile quality but for music on the go and where you want to be anytime or anywhere that has a flat surface very cool.
Richter's Well Tempered Clavier Hi Jim, The Lp is definitely an improvement. The clear lines of playing and music/sound that issue from Richter are quite clean and very easy to follow. Yes there is some reverb BUT unlike the example on Youtube it sounds like it is in a more ope...
Richter's Well Tempered Clavier Hi Jim, Was wondering what you were referring to so just played the first three preludes on a Richter Lp with a Melodiya label but mastered by Capitol. Then listened to the same by Glenn Gould on Columbia. Very different styles, that aside what yo...
Richter's Well Tempered Clavier If vinyl is part of your system it is often available on Ebay, there are a few examples to go through. He was exceedingly fond of Bach, believing it was necessary to cleanse ones hearing.
Preamp help. Am not familiar with your Pass Labs pre but do know Conrad-Johnson. There are a few really good pre's on here at or near your price 2000-3000 for some new or reconditioned with warranty. Have no affliation just like their sound. See if you can dem...
Best path to test different interconnects? would agree with CD to preamp or if your into vinyl turntable or phono pre on out. See if you can get them burned in some other way and then listen. What you get from the source or don't will be heard most clearly through the speakers. What you do...
Your Best Vinyl Memory Listening to James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and the Moody Blues while playing a game of Go. Being throughly stoned,on orange sunshine, as was my friend, having to move from the living room to the bedroom, put the game on a waterbed, get on the bed wi...
Useful Life of PreAmp Tubes. Can't answer about standby mode but if 10,000 is a standard for preamp tubes, and it seems to be on many, then keeping it on 24/7 should maintain the tube life for about 13 months. Hope that helps as a start
How do you listen to your music? At the moment, a moment which has been going on for about three years now, am working through 800+ albums from some friends. So clean, listen and occassionally as the library gets sorted out go back and listen to specific ones. Usually all the way... |
