Interconnects and phono pre check out the cable company, they have many cables, phono cables, power cords, that you can borrow from their lending library to hear how they sound in your system for what I consider a reasonable time period. Sometimes it can be extended also.
Music for Organ, Brass and Timpani on Sonoma Have just discovered a new work, for me that is, Joseph Jongen's Symphonie Concertante. My version, LP has Virgil Fox and the Paris Opera Orchestra. Arkiv and Penguin give high marks to Michael Murray and the San Francico Symphony, have not heard ...
My NAD reciever has no sound , Any suggestions Have you checked: Fuses, breakers, did someone unplug it?,and or are all the interconnects still properly plugged in. As a former electronic technician these simple things fix things about 10-15% of the time.
The Hub: TidBits from RMAF 2009: Part TWO Thanks for being willing to share the new and unusual, at least to me(RAAL), some Maxhorns and not being put off by the high price spread when it sounds so much of what it should.

Preamp with phono stage for under $1000 There's a Conrad-Johnson PV11 on sale for about $650 right now, don't know the owner but it is one of the few components I am sorry I traded away. Check out the archives for just how good people think this is. The phono section is also good.

Which cart Have not heard the Benz but am a fan of the Sumiko Celebration which is in your price range, there are some reviews that may help tell you how it does in comparisions, others on here may be able to add more info as well.
Phono Preamp suggestions? a nice feature which not all phono preamps have is a mono switch. Not a killer if not there, but if comparing two or more and everything more or less is even it could be a tie breaker

$1200... What would you buy? First question, does your receiver have a phono section? If not you will/may need a phono preamp possible, depending on the cartridge you choose.Second, rather than spending it all, why not try say between 550-850 and look for a good used Rega P3 o...
Re-Assessing RVG To follow up Jimjoyce25, on more than one occasion my system has been altered to get the most out of a given recording. My assumptions, so far correct, are that the recording is right and my system has some problems getting it right, maybe now it ...
Mozart Piano Concertos Concur with Perahia, Clara Haskil, and Brendel, would add for at least #27 Emil Gilels. His tone and romanticism are such that, at least for me, no other pianist has matched.
Review: Allnic L-5000 Tube preamp Totally agree with your view stated in the Absolute sound portion. Objectivists are highly logical and reasonable, unfortunately they like we, myself ncluded, being a subjectivist, live in a rational world, where objectivity is a goal and rarely a... |
