High sensitivity (99) with mid powered (50 to 100 wpc/tube) amps?
I run a pair of 101db 16 ohm 15” coaxial Altec 604Cs with a pair of NYAL Julius Futterman OTLs, converted to triode and rated 135 watts each. It’s worked for me for 39 years.
Listening Room
My wife has resigned herself to my dedicated, treated listening room. That said, it IS in the attic. 🤔 That, or it goes smack in the middle of the living room, where it used to be for 40 years. 😬😆 @gents I have a chair in the sweet spot. I move ...
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
Still going strong. Oy. Impressive.
Analog2Fidelity At Munich High End 2024 Introduces Worldwide Koetsu Rebuilding Service
Around the :30 mark of the video, Art says "I brought Koetsu in around 1995. Before then they hadn’t been distributed". This is not true. I bought a Koetsu Black new in 1985, in New York City. Either from Dave Wasserman at Stereo Exchange or from...

@jwpstayman  I think that I found him on fb. He is of Asian descent, even though his name is Italian? Which might explain why he is connected to Koetsu?

@jwpstayman  I have exchanged emails with him. He says that he is a B2B business. I frankly don't understand why a middleman needs to be added to what is already an expensive proposition. Even if VAS only gets you 90% there - for the sake of ar...

My first question is: who are these guys? Who is Arturo Manzano?
Those rare albums that are great on first listen.
Do these questions seem to generate answers that reply more to the question “what are your favorite LPs”, or is it me? theaudioatticvinylsundays.com
Can you tell the difference between a $200 and a $200,000 guitar?
This always kills me:  Trying to discern audio quality or lack thereof …. Over a YouTube clip on an iPhone.

Wow. I cannot believe this thread is still chugging along. As for leaf blowers, what is there to like? Carbon pollution, noise pollution. Horrible inventions. What happened to good old rakes?
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
@frogman I went in there at least twice a year for well over 15 years. I never felt welcomed. Not once. Not the case at the other two shops I frequented, especially Stereo Exchange which was just the opposite. theaudioatticvinylsundays.com
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
@frogman And your inference is? I stand by my comments. Stereo Exchange was a much more welcoming place. Steve Wasserman is genuinely warm and friendly, and he has an amazing memory: he would greet you by name every time you walked in, and h...
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
@czarivey That was my experience. I disliked him immensely. I did go in the shop for FOMO, and I did once buy something, my VPI HW / Sumiko MMT / Koetsu Black combo there, in 1985. But he was not helpful: I knew to know what I wanted before I we...

Replacement for Shindo
I never owned a Shindo but out of FOMO, I auditioned them a few times. The Shindo did not persuade me to switch from my Futtermans but of the things I’ve auditioned over the years, the Shindo came closest to sounding like my Futtermans. Here is a...
