Speakers sound too bright. IMO the room is the red flag. wait 200 hours, then decide on room treatment. the lack of symmetry may create other problems but you must know that and that’s off topic anyway.
Do You Unplug Equipment During Thunderstorms? Sometimes. But I usually rely on my Furman to do the job.
Room Treatment @lalitk @seanheis1 @raam I am THRILLED with the sound. yes: all the dimensionality and atmospherics is coming from the groove almost entirely. The room is not dead, I am getting full spectrum. And, the sound is somehow holographic: on some r...
The Insane World of High End Audio! Is it All a Scam? Cheapaudioman imho is trolling for clicks. move on
Is the "improvement" real or imnagined? It’s always part perception and perception always changes depending on mood or what you are that day. “You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grav...

Room Treatment @lalitk I have every square inch of my walls covered with 5” of rock wool, and every square inch of my ceiling covered with 14” of rock wool. The floors mostly covered either Moroccan cotton rugs I have a very dead, semi-anechoic room. It wor...
Some people actively participate but rarely if ever start a thread. I post when I have a question. I comment when - I think I have something to say - I’m feeling ornery
Will a high quality preamp really make a difference in sound?? Also speaker cable Preamp: duh. Cables: The Cable Choir may have made a Religious Convert out of me! The other day, I put in a different cable that was a foot longer to run from my phase aligners to my amps. Afterwards, something didn’t sound right. I switched bac...
Vinyl sounds better (shots fired) My audio system is set up for vinyl (6,000+ LPs). I do have a decent CD player (400 CDs). I have no streaming. I listen to streamed music on my cell phone or computer when I’m not in my audio room.
I'm curious. What is your "normal" listening volume? Depends on the source material. 75 to 99 db.
Upscale Audio is up front with customers @awise1961 I’m curious: how do you loo changes?
Potential relief for tinnitus? I dunno if this would work for me. My tinnitus is caused by cervical stenosis. Rotating my head makes the noise louder or whiter, and changes the pitch. With a little movement coordination, I could write and perform my own music in my neck.
How long should high quality speakers last? @mkaiser Did I say “sound the same as new”? I did not. However, I obviously would not still be using them if I was not getting anything less than outstanding performance from them. The rest of your statement makes no sense to me.
How long should high quality speakers last? The serial numbers on my Altec 604Cs and on my 604Ds are 1956 and 1958 respectively. I have had them for 45 years. I rotate them once a year, and have them serviced every 15 years. The crossovers are Mastering Lab. The caps have been replaced. |
