Not Sure If This Is OK Here, But Here Goes
I am suspicious as a general rule. But in this scenario, as long as you are being paid securely up front, and provide no personal info, it's on him to get your speakers shipped securely for the final leg of the transit.
How do you know when a stereo sounds good?
"How do you determine that you enjoy listening to music through your stereo?" How do I know when I am enjoying anything? Let me start by checking my pulse to see if I'm alive. Geez, I am not a therapist.
Bands/artists you never got to see live in their heyday, but would've liked to.
The Doors Janis Joplin   But I did see:   Gram Parsons* Bruce Springsteen* Tim Buckley** Jimi Hendrix** Jefferson Airplane (many times) Cesora Evora Astor Piazzola Gypsy Kings Philip Glass (Einstein on the Beach, at Lincoln Center) a...
Horn speakers are really bright?
I have a pair of Altec Lansing 604Cs. They were bright with the stock crossover. I replaced the crossover with Mastering Lab crossovers. They have two shelves and were specifically designed to correct this weakness. They did solve the problem.
Adding an ignore list feature to audiogon
Sounds like cancel culture to me.
Suggestions for high efficiency speakers?
see link provided. This system philosophy and configuration - with tweaks and improvements along the way - has worked for me for 35 years. Context and ears matter. May it may not work for you. Be well. https://www.theaudioatticvinylsundays.co...
Great song to test bass
Just about anything by Charlie Haden.
Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs?
I've had two floor standing speakers since 1978.    I have not found a substitute for the idea that you need a commensurate amount of mass to move air.
Great song to test bass
"A Child Is Coming" - Blows Against the Empire - Paul Kantner/Grace Slick/"Jefferson Starship" (really, The Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra, or PERRO) - at about 1:27, Jack Casady’s bass becomes the lead, then the solo instrument. "Laughing"...
Who Tried Power Conditioners Over The Years and No Longer Use Them Today, Any Why?
I bought a power conditioner decades ago. It made a not insignificant difference.    in my new home, a dedicated line was run directly from the circuit breaker in the mechanical room to my audio room. I've found that the power conditioner still m...
The "British Invasion". A question for you old farts out there.
Rolling Stones at age 9 was my favorite, everyone else was into the Beatles. Replaced by Jefferson airplane at age 13. Liked the Doors also. At age 16, I was a clique of one in my Catholic HS listening to “(It’s a Chill Wind That) Blows Against th...
Can You Hear Me Now
What’s the point, actually? The test likely has biases: since everyone hears differently, whose to say that you won’t get different results with different parameters?  Are they measuring psychological as well as physiological phenomena, etc. I wou...
Two surprising things I found that improved my imaging and staging...
Since I moved from a 1200 sq ft listening space in NYC to a 550 sq ft listening space in The Hudson River Valley, my speakers give me the greatest natural balance, detail and spaciousness when pointed straight out, not toed in, and when making the...

How do you listen?
Never on headphones, due to tinnitus. Volume depends on the disc and the material.
