Do people tire of audio forums?
Hi there. I’m one of those whose system has had a fairly stable configuration for 35 years, no need to go out and get the latest thing, I just have what works for me. That said, I now have a semi-anechoic listening room, and I had both of my NYAL...
Have you seen the new McIntosh poster for $195?
I have that Maxwell poster, sitting in a drawer however.    I have not seen the McIntosh poster.
Big speakers, are they really the best way to get great sound?
@daveyf I think I’m trying to say that a large speaker in a moderate (what I have) to large size room is ideal. I would think that there must be a formula that would measure room size to volume of air mass that technically would be ideal, thoug...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Frederick Rzewski: Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues
What is meant exactly by the description 'more musical'?
I will simply second what @atmasphere has said. My audio engineer says more or less the same thing.

His memory will be a blessing.

Imho the more air you move, the better. So, the bigger the better, … relative to room size and room tuning.
How long does it take your tube amp to warm up?
My NYAL Futterman OTL3s, converted to triode with eight 6LF6 tubes take about 20 minutes of warming up while playing music. At 40 minutes they lock in.
Speaker Efficiency
My understanding about this is that less efficient speakers drive your tubes harder. So, shorter tube life. But I can’t say for sure, maybe someone can comment on that point.
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
@cleeds Of the 3,000 books in my library, I have several shelves devoted to history books that unequivocally dispute your assertions about the frequency of change. As for your other comment about 1/6, you clearly did not cognitively grasp what ...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
@mahgister organize. The easy stuff is shareholder resolutions, strikes, boycotts. The hard part is revolution, which won’t happen for the foreseeable future because the working classes in the U.S. seem more inclined towards fascism at the momen...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
“…You're being silly because it's essentially impossible for any of us to change our economic system.” Totally wrong. Systems are changed all the time, either at the ballot box, through grassroots organizing with thousands of others, through cata...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
@cleeds “why do you remain a passive victim to a system you dislike?” Did you read what I wrote? No, you would rather overwrite it with your ideological assumptions, which willfully obscure one of my points. There’s nothing passive about me or w...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
“When it comes to price people can charge what they want for what they create. If you don’t want it. Don’t pay for it.”   Dead wrong. Economic systems are not something handed down from God: they are social constructs. If you don’t like $1.2M au...
True high-end Speakers need a midrange
As soon as someone utters an absolutism, I turn off. “True high fidelity”: what is that? It’s what each individual listener hears for themselves.    Btw, I’ve been fine with my Altec 604Cs since 1978. When guests come to hear them for the first t...
