Those rare albums that are great on first listen.
Do these questions seem to generate answers that reply more to the question “what are your favorite LPs”, or is it me? theaudioatticvinylsundays.com
Can you tell the difference between a $200 and a $200,000 guitar?
This always kills me:  Trying to discern audio quality or lack thereof …. Over a YouTube clip on an iPhone.
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
Wow. I cannot believe this thread is still chugging along. As for leaf blowers, what is there to like? Carbon pollution, noise pollution. Horrible inventions. What happened to good old rakes?
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
@frogman I went in there at least twice a year for well over 15 years. I never felt welcomed. Not once. Not the case at the other two shops I frequented, especially Stereo Exchange which was just the opposite. theaudioatticvinylsundays.com
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
@frogman And your inference is? I stand by my comments. Stereo Exchange was a much more welcoming place. Steve Wasserman is genuinely warm and friendly, and he has an amazing memory: he would greet you by name every time you walked in, and h...
Andrew Singer Of "Sound by Singer" passed away yesterday
@czarivey That was my experience. I disliked him immensely. I did go in the shop for FOMO, and I did once buy something, my VPI HW / Sumiko MMT / Koetsu Black combo there, in 1985. But he was not helpful: I knew to know what I wanted before I we...

Replacement for Shindo
I never owned a Shindo but out of FOMO, I auditioned them a few times. The Shindo did not persuade me to switch from my Futtermans but of the things I’ve auditioned over the years, the Shindo came closest to sounding like my Futtermans. Here is a...
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments?
As this is allegedly a settled topic I will wade in only briefly: - audio truism #1: the room is half your system. - when my wife and I renovated our 1865 4.5 story brick townhouse based on a Calvert Vaux #5 design from his Villas and Cottages, ...

Brand New Vinyl Static and Pops
Get the Zerostat gun. About 100 bucks.
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
You don’t have a problem. You just like to hear how the sounds of recordings vary on different equipment.    I prefer to figure it out once until all my recordings sound as great to my ears, and then sit back and listen.
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms
@pindac The cartridges - Koetsu Onyx and Rosewood Signature - get re-tipped and refurbished regularly. I understand that the grit that inevitably gets inside the cartridge can itself get electrically charged and stress and even break the coils. I...
The molecular level explanation of "cable burn-in"
@liquidsound  Well, I've been called names before, but this takes the cake. 🤯
The molecular level explanation of "cable burn-in"
@theskipperthree I am with mahgister: too long by a factor of 5, and if it was really that funny, ok. Life is short. Jokes: shorter still, preferably.
