Yes, cables do make a difference -- regardless of price... For the record, I am in no need of rationalisms masquerading as a public service. Let me elaborate. As many here know, I have been at this hobby for 55 years, since I built my Dynakit Stereo 70 when I was 14. Since then, I have had the opportun...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers @amtprod Not sure what it is exactly that I nailed but you are welcome! 🤗 🙏🏼
Cable Break In for the Naysayers @raam And some people believe there are tooth fairies. I prefer that which works for myself, so we agree on that much. I will not use that personal experience as a foundational edifice upon which to hang an Abdolutist Audio Ideology that I expe...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers “…But if you had the audio equipment and ears you would be a believer.…” This is the giveaway with Ozzy. He just wants to argue his superiority over everyone else. The scientific basis for his assertion is non-existent: his expectation is instead...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers “….Sorry, but your system looks like a beginner’s system. Like we all started out with. It may be good for home theater though….” Who exactly, is this directed at? You are sounding like a troll now. Why on earth did I respond to this thread? I ...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers I just got off the phone with my audio engineer. He has 40+ years experience in the industry. Besides building and repairing audio gear and guitar amps, he is also a recording engineer. He is also a guitarist and in the blues hall of fame. We w...

Volume levels If your system is revealing enough, it should not be necessary to boost volume on analog. As others have noted, sound compression was a concomitant of digitization, for marketing reasons: it was another way to make digital sound “improved” over a...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers “…I just experienced cable break in firsthand…” Good for you! Some of us ascribe that to the placebo effect. I’m one of them. In my 55 years experience since building a Dyna70 at age 14, I have had plenty of time to experiment with dozens of c...
Yes, cables do make a difference -- regardless of price... @cleeds I have the newspaper article with the quote in it. I clipped it. I moved and I’m still unpacking. I’ll be happy to show it it you when I get my hands on it. i believe it’s The NY Times or WaPo debunking the absurd amounts spent on audio...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers @ozzy I will put my system up against any out there and I’ll bet that it comes out as equal to far better than any out there 99% of the time, at any price point. I will also say that once you arrive at the quality level of my system, it’s mostl...
Yes, cables do make a difference -- regardless of price... @cleeds And likewise, no one is obliged to follow your belief system. ugh, I can’t believe that these cable arguments come up time and time again. The guy who founded Monster Cable himself said that the whole notion of high end cables was a...
Yes, cables do make a difference -- regardless of price... I take careful note of the way that the word “belief” always enters discussion on this topic. I’m agnostic. Beliefs are for theists and atheists. https://www.theaudioatticvinylsundays.com/about
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K Altec Lansing 604C. I’ve been using them for 46 years. At 101db, they get very loud very fast with little juice or distortion, though that is only one of their virtues. If they were good enough for Bruce Botnick (The Doors, The Beach Boys, The R...
Is more amp power always better...? The SET folks say that the first watt is the most important. Some of them get by with 5 and I’ve heard even less. In other words, quality over quantity but you need enough to drive your inefficient speakers. |
