Background noise.
Yes!  And that n-th degree of blacker black that reviewers talk about as attributable to expensive components, doesn't matter that much if you have any significant degree of ambient noise.
Help fine-tune my speaker search
@nymarty I've owned a pair of the Belles monoblocks for years, and they are excellent.  They bat well above their price range, and will drive any speaker you throw at them well.  They deserve the best that you can get.
Vogue Audio 7N OCC silver cables
They're located in Englewood, Florida, which is right in the path of the eye of Ian.
Dr. Feickert Turntable
From a review on Upscale site. "The only gripe I had was setting up the anti-skate portion, as it was shipped with a Origin Live Silver Mk 3a manual that really was not specific on the set up of this anti-skate section. TIP: there is a 'grub scre...
What was the last CD you bought (Name, and year issued)?
Antonio Vivaldi, "Concerti pour Hautbois, Basson et Cor, issdes" L’Armonia e l’Inventione, Astree Auvidis E8537, issued 1995 but still in print. This is an exceptional recording of some of Vivaldi’s wind concertos, with tremendous presence and g...
Best 12AU7 Type Tubes for a Preamp
If you really can get the Amperex from a reputable source for the price you list, buy them at once! In the world of new-production, Psvane outperforms Mullard and Genelex Gold Lion (I've tried all three).
Power Cables - Stock vs. Budget
Cullen or Audio Envy.
Choosing an integrated for low volume listening
Do any modern integrateds offer a variable loudness control?  I've seen that feature occasionally on much older units.
CD Transport Question
No. Neither announced yet.  They had models in their workshop and I think at shows as of June.  Manufacturing and supply chain may be an issue.
CD Transport Question
It's called the URD.
Crackling in right channel, what do I do? Help, please.
If 100W is enough, a really compact and good class D is the AGD Tempo di Gan.  It may have more immediate availability than the Atmasphere monoblocks.
Crackling in right channel, what do I do? Help, please.
Do another swop L-R of cables from the preamp to the amp.  If it moves the problem is the preamp, if it stays put it's the amp.  You're already ruled out the source units and the speakers.  One more to go.
What Gear is Universally Adored?
I think you're really reaching with "universally".  I can't think of a single component, save a single brand, that some audiophile somewhere wouldn't turn their nose up at.  Because they're a picky bunch.
NAD M23 Stereo Amplifier: Best Amp Ever Bench Tested?!?
Does this remind anyone else of the specmanship wars of the early Japanese transistor amplifiers?  Perhaps Stereo Review will be revived soon.
NAD M23 Stereo Amplifier: Best Amp Ever Bench Tested?!?
The problem is that the acolytes of Amir and Gene listen with their eyes, not their ears.  But hey, there's no bad publicity, right?
