Power Conditioner
If you have decent electricity coming into your house, an inexpensive unit is not going to do much, if anything at all, unless you just want a surge protector, which opens up another can of worms. My recommendation: save up for an Inakustik 3500.
Are your speakers designed for your listening taste and hearing ability?
No difference from the way in big box stores they turn the Brightness, Sharpness, etc. controls on TVs up to MAX.The problem is, with 95% of the speakers, you can’t turn them down again (at least not directly on the speaker).
Spendor Classic 1/2
Over a year ago I was very interested in auditioning some Classic 100's.  That's still on the "to do" list.  US dealers are very few and far between.
MHDT Orchid or Lampizator Amber 3?
Whatever happened to the Lab 12 DAC1?
So I'm still searching for the right amp...
The Simaudio and the Ruby are both very good modern designs, the other Marantz a bit older.  It comes down to a matter of taste. The Ruby might be a little more forgiving/relaxed/warm/liquid, insert your adjective of choice.
Higher End DACs
If you really want to go upmarket, take a look at Meitner's best DAC.
Emotiva Xpa 2 as a mono block.
Where's georgehifi when you need him?
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think
@pirad Description of the Magnepan subwoofer accompanying the "condo" 30.7."The bass unit was about 3 feet tall and about 1 foot wide. The cabinet or structure consisted of a V shaped open baffle with 8 total drivers—4 vertically mounted dynamic c...
Spendor Classic 3/1 vs Graham Chartwell LS6 ?
Apart from all the other links in the chain, I think you're also hearing the very different acoustic of the two rooms.
Which amp would you go with
A Brit integrated is the way to go.  For instance, this:https://www.amazon.com/Creek-Audio-Evolution-50A-Integrated/dp/B00CA83ZQQ/ref=asc_df_B00CA83ZQQ/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312134464238&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1497...
How many speaker companies?
All I know is that the listings in the latest edition of the Absolute Sound audio directory are woefully incomplete--and here we're just talking about loudspeaker brands currently available in the U.S.
Higher End DACs
One brand that you can definitely audition at home without any risk is PS Audio.  At the very least would be worth getting their stuff to pit against the opposition.
Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's?
mapman and I were at the same show.  Call Fritz up and ask about minimum recommended wattage.  Printed specs tell only a fraction of the whole story.  For years I drove ProAc Response 2.5's with a 14watt Cary 300b, and those speakers were never li...
From bryston to simaudio
The Bryston is a good amp.  In particular, it has muscle.  The Sim Moon Audio products are more expensive because they are more refined; think muscle + sophistication.
Classical Music for Aficionados
Sudbin came up in the context of good recorded piano sound (BIS, SACD).Here's another recording whose piano sound I'm enjoying, the acoustic is different, there's a bit more resonance, but it does sound very much like a piano in a room.Paul Lewis:...
