Equi=Core Hum & Other Issues
There are many DC blockers available, at different price points.  PS Audio used to make a popular one, occasionally available used.  Audio by Van Alstine, Emotiva, and Isotek all have models.
Speaker cable recommendations in my budget
Here you go. https://www.ravenaudio.com/product/speaker-cables/ Check out the quality and then the price!!
You could work for any manufacturer, past or present...

Chemically Altered Audio
I stick my mats in the tumble dryer, 20 minutes on high setting.  When they come out they're twice as effective.
Wilson's Chronosonic XVX loudspeaker over 3/4 of a million US dollars
Those Wilsons are simply irrelevant.  True innovation with speaker design is taking place many places, but always far from Provo.
Thinking about swapping out my Class D SDS-470C for a pair of Schiit Aegir on Magnepan LRS
George's theme song is the one-note samba.  You may wish to take some other more diverse points of view into consideration.
Wilson's Chronosonic XVX loudspeaker over 3/4 of a million US dollars
When solid state-generated watts became cheap, speaker designers started to care less and less about the impedance of the models they were creating.  Kind of a corollary of the law of supply and demand.
Isolation Cones vs Cheap Cables
With speakers of those dimensions, look first to these, rather than either cones or PCs.  https://soundocity.com/
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp
Or one of the Raven integrated.  A strong alternative to Rogue and PrimaLuna.
Pure Class A SS vs Tube Amp
If that 100dB figure is accurate (manufacturers often inflate it), then I would have thought you could use one or other of the Pass First Watt amps.  There are several.  Talk to Reno Audio about matching. Also take a look at Sugden, often overlooked.
Harbeth speakers vs Audionote
Heard both at Deja Vu a couple of years ago, systems undoubtedly somewhat different.  The 40.2's completely blew me away--all I could say was Wow.  I liked the Audio Note: I found they had an unequalled purity of timbre, i.e. a particular instrume...

It will be a real challenge to find "smaller sized amps [that] are easier to move" that genuinely double in output from 4 ohms to 2 ohms.As Hamlet once said, Ay, there's the rub.
Best speaker upgrade to pair with a 25 year old Mark Levinson 23.5 power amp/ 28 preamp
I'd stick with the B&W.  Sure, we can get you into something "better", but at what cost?  Not the cost of what used 801's are going for these days, but a whole lot more.
Harbeth vs Graham audio
You've actually got Graham, Stirling, Falcon, and the Spendor Classic line.  Good luck trying to audition more than two of those (and Harbeth) in the same system.
