Speakers Bought Brand New For The Cost Of A Good Night Out, That "Kick Ass".
It depends on what the speakers are for.  For a dedicated room or HT I want the highest quality speakers I can fit in my budget.  For background music in a kitchen or bedroom I’m less picky.
Speaker recomendation
Revel F228be + Anthem STR Integrated.  You’ll have plenty of power, ARC to help tame errant reflections in the room, a beautiful set of speakers that can play louder than you’ll ever need without breaking a sweat and can handle anything from light...
Stand mount loudspeakers
I haven't heard the JA Pulsars, but I did hear the Pearls at Axpona, they sounded nice, and I have no idea how much they are, but I certainly heard other speakers in the $10,000 and less range that I thought were better.  I know others who absolut...
New Speakers up to $15k - The more I read the less I know!
There's a set of Legacy Audio Aeris speakers w/Wavelet on this site for just over your budget (dealer demos), those sounded beautiful paired with Raven Audio tube amps at Axpona, and did that 'completely disappeared' thing you like, so I imagine t...
Never-ending Speaker Journey ($1,000 budget)
Another option to better integrate a subwoofer and to tame the peakiness in some speakers that makes them sound fatiguing would be to add room correction and a true subwoofer crossover.  The MiniDSP DDRC-24 is only $450 (a bit more if you need the...
Never-ending Speaker Journey ($1,000 budget)
Try the Philharmonic Audio Philharmonitors.  RAAL tweeter with a high-end scan-speak woofer, F3 of 45hz, and only $1,150/pair.  The RAAL ribbon gives you plenty of detail and ‘air’ without ever sounding harsh, and the scan-speak woofer should be a...
Ready to move onto next stage of streaming
Aside from potential differences in DACs (which can be handled outboard anyway) why would there be any difference in the sound quality of any streaming box vs any other?  They’re all getting the same digital stream from Tidal, they should all pass...
Stand mount loudspeakers
TMRaudio does seem to be priced a bit higher than the going used rate for a lot of gear, but they take excellent photos, seem to meticulously detail any faults with a product and give honest descriptions, and have very reasonable shipping rates.  ...
Stand mount loudspeakers
@audioman58 Have you had a chance to hear the Monitor Audio Studios?  I saw them off to the side of a room at Axpona, but they were demoing a different set of speakers at the time.  I wish I'd had the chance to hear them, they look like a nice des...
Stand mount loudspeakers
Standmounts can image better in a smaller room than bigger speakers sometimes.  Pair them with an integrated or pre with bass management and room correction like the Anthem STR series and a good subwoofer or two and you can have a system that can ...

Small:  Raidho XT-1Medium:  Revel M126beLarge:  TAD CR-1Of course, not knowing your budget those range from $4,000/pair to $37,000/pair.
Crown XLS 1502.... real life test.
@erik_squires I believe the Ice Edge still uses multiple chips for control and driving while the Drivecore integrates it all into one, both seem to have had the goal or reducing component count on the board through. To my understanding TI's role in...
Mono Blocks on a Budget, is it possible?
With the exchange rate the Nord completed monoblocks aren't much more than the Hypex DIY models, and you get the NC500 vs the NC400, though if you like the DIY aspect the Hypex monoblocks still have a lot to offer. A couple of other great Class D ...
Mono Blocks on a Budget, is it possible?
There are some nice options out there. You could get the Nord Acoustics Hypex nCore monoblocks for just a little over $2,000, they’ll do 400 watts into 8 ohms. There’s also the Audio Alchemy DPA-1M, it uses the older Hypex UcD amps, $4,000/pair MS...
Bookshelf speakers for Onkyo A-9070 amp
The BMR Philharmonitors are worth a look, if you like 'air' and an open treble without brightness a RAAL ribbon is hard to beat, and they dig down to 32hz so you get solid bass performance in a standmount/bookshelf form factor.  They're typically ...
