In need of advice: amplifier
Do you need more channels in addition to what the Proceed Amp5 provides, or are you just unhappy with it for some reason? This listing is a 4-channel, but you could always leave one unused.  It uses the Hypex amp modules which are considered to be ...
Kii3 vs Raidho XT-1
I listened to both and came away much more impressed by the Raidho.  Part of that could have been expectations - I'd heard raves about the Kii, and while I'd heard some good things about Raidho that company was much more of a blank slate for me.Th...
Paypal issue beware.
I can understand frustrations on the part of sellers regarding PayPal seemingly being a bit deaf when it comes to unscrupulous buyers, but on the flipside when I'm buying something I prefer PayPal because I know they will protect me from an unscru...
Axpona 2018
This was my first AXPONA and it was an amazing experience.  Some of my favorites:Big Von Schweikert Room - What can you say about a room of gear that costs more than most homes?  It was absolutely amazing, full range, incredible sound stage and im...
2018 Axpona Eikon System
@geoffkait It’s also worth noting the Eikon system is complete - speakers, amps, room correction, and pre, just add a source and you’re ready to go.  Apparently the Eikon system controller is based on the Legacy audio wavelet processor, which seem...
Folded tweeters vs. dome?
I thought that I disliked AMTs for a long time because I’d auditioned Goldenesr Triton Ones and Martin Logan Motion 40s and 60XTs and found them uncomfortably bright.  After hearing the Triton Reference, Gayle Sanders Eikon, Legacy Aeris and Valor...
Schiit not that Good?
@chrshanl37 That was actually my blurb from those rooms, Mark aggregated the content from the AVS members who attended the show.  I stand behind my comments, the Salk/Schiit room sounded far better than the Canton/Esoteric room.  I don’t really bl...
Authenticity of Speakers
The basic Klipsch R-series is their entry-level line, and they're the speakers that, IMO, make a lot of people think they don't like Klipsch speakers, they're a considerable step down from the Klipsch RP series.  They go on sale for close to half ...
Magico A3
I'm with @mtrot on this one.  They sounded nice, but the Revel F228be was better.  I didn't hear the Paradigm 3Fs at the show, just the 5s, but if the 3s sound like the 5s I'd give them the edge as well, though I imagine the Magico has more bass o...
Who makes the best "Coaxial" Tweeter/Midrange design?
@roxy54 I believe it's a BMS.
If you like Revel F208, you would love ....
@frozentundra The Rivals seemed like a 'fun' speaker, very lively tonality, a lot of immediacy in their reproduction.  I don't know if that would eventually get fatiguing or not, but they were a fun listen for a few tunes at AXPONA.
Focal Aria 936 vs Flectra 1028BE
FWIW I was unimpressed with the Arias and Kantas that I've heard, but loved the Sopra.  I haven't heard the Electra, but I imagine it's closer to the Sopra than it is to the others.  If you can get an Electra for the same price as the Arias, I'd j...
Is the 2.5 way speaker the ideal home speaker?
What advantage would a 2.5 way have over a true 3-way?  I'd think a real dedicated midrange driver would be better than a midwoofer that also has to handle bass frequencies.  I suppose you could have a more simple crossover with a 2.5 way, but ple...
Wilson Speakers & Reviewers
Wilson has been around for a long time, they were one of the pioneers in the ultra-high-end segment so developed a name for themselves early, and they spend a lot on ad buys and show presence so they keep their name and products out there.  I hear...
If you like Revel F208, you would love ....
@whitestix I heard the Spatial Audio X2s at AXPONA and was very impressed.  However, I'd give the edge to another great horn-enabled OB speaker- the Pure Audio Project Trio15 Horn1, it even costs a little bit less.  As far as other great options i...
