???Who Wants To Be A Guinea Pig???
@freediver Like you said, compact, highly efficient, and deep bass extension don't go together, and I'd wager more that a seller with no review history who doesn't respond to questions is more likely to be pulling stuff out of their rear for ad co...
What's happened to the used high end market recently?? Sales are tough....:0(
@daveyf I suppose that depends on the unit.  I'll agree that the used market is probably more price driven than the new market, a good value is a good value.  I wouldn't consider a pair of speakers that retail for $12,000 to be a good value at $10...
Hard Audio - Ceramic Speakers
Dr. Toole has said that EQ can help for room effects, but it can't fix a poorly designed speaker.  Frequency response is important, but you can't just look at on-axis.  A smooth and predictable off-axis response that mirrors on on-axis response (t...
What are you streaming tonight?
Jamming to some Scary Pockets, a fun side-project from Patreon founder (and one half of Pomplamoose) Jack Conte.  Basically funk'd versions of a  number of past and present pop hits performed with Conte on keys and a rotating crew of studio musici...

That's good to hear ClarinetMonster.  A big Revel/JBL Synthesis dealer over on AVS Forums mentioned that Revel has already sold through the entirety of the first production run of the new Performa Be speakers.  The $10,000/pair price point seems t...
NAME SOME RARE AUDIO ITEMS THAT DID NOT TAKE OFF BUT SHOULD HAVE & WHY.HERE'S MY LIST
While Dr. Heil’s AMT has seemingly (finally) caught on like wildfire in recent years, his unique Transar driver never seemed to have gone beyond prototype or extremely low production status.  I’d love to see it be more fully developed to see if th...
We give up perspective to avoid tone controls
Audyssey has a lot of settings, some more intrusive than others.  It seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, though it does get more praise as an HT solution than a 2-channel solution.  With the new Audyssey curve editor app you can limit the freq...
Yanni or Laurel?
I can only hear Laurel.
opinions on these two stand mounts
The MA Studios are considerably lower in price, and while I haven’t had the chance to hear them, if they can hang with the XT-1s (which I have heard, and are friggin’ amazing, probably the best mini monitors I’ve ever heard) they’d be the steal of...

@erik_squires Hmm, I was under the impression that REW allowed you to apply filters, I thought the guy running noaudiophile used it.  Reading up it looks like he uses it to measure and export correction files that can then be imported into other p...
Tidal does not post the cost to buy a song or an album on their site
Here's a link to the 'purchasing music' FAQ on Tidal's site:https://support.tidal.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003672089-Purchasing-MusicIt looks like you can indeed buy tracks or albums if you'd like, but that's not really what their service is geare...
Ever Bought an Audio Product that was Stupid Good for the Money?
@dpl35 I picked up a pair of Infinity Interlude IL40s for $200 (and the guy threw in an Infinity IL100s subwoofer and an old Infinity CC3 center channel that he just wanted to get rid of).Amazing speakers for the money, they're serving as my mains...
Hard Audio - Ceramic Speakers
Yikes, at $7,100/pair for the Seas or $3,700/pair for the Accutons, those had better be something amazing.  Given that most of us can't hear much beyond 14khz or so once we're nearing 40, I think I'll take a pass on those.FWIW I did think the Accu...

@daveyf Other than the pricing of some of the gear I don't see a lot of parallels between HEA and luxury vehicles.  Many people buy expensive vehicles to present a certain level of success to the world, to outdo their neighbors or coworkers, etc. ...
single driver speakers
@czarivey I heard the Cube Audio Magus speakers at AXPONA, they were playing a lot of old-school jazz and big-band (Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, etc).  It sounded great - a lot more bass than you'd expect from a single-driver (the cabinets use...
