Classical Music as Relics for easy listening Try XMRadio (satillite radio). It has 3 classical channels, one plays complete works, one is all vocal and one plays excerpts, kind of like classical-lite radio. Sound is like MP3 but there are no, I repeat, NO commercials. They also have special ...
Tube dampers? Ditto the good things about HAL-O. Works for me.
Killer female vocal recordings-show me the light.. Since it's not on your list, please don't check out Helen Merrill with Clifford Brown on Mercury CD. It's fantastic mono (tube mic) and both artists are in their (young) prime. Sorry for the interuption. Jacintha? Only for insomniacs.
Amp shopping - recommendations anyone? InnerSound ESL amp meets your requirements. 30 day trial, plenty of power, nice open highs, used in the $1500 range.
If you like Jazz you've go to hear "Up in Smoke " Thanks, Donnwags. It's on order.
Choking more SPL's out of Maggie 3.6's Since you're in that price range, you might consider the Atma-Sphere MP-3, a tremendous line stage with a magnificent phono stage inside.
Choking more SPL's out of Maggie 3.6's My tube amps ran out of gas with the 3.6s at around the low 90 dbs, that would be 100 watts per each ribbon/mid and woofer sections. I heard an InnerSound ESL amp driving the EROS MKII. It sounded real open and powerful. I bought one and it works ...
Best Jimmy SMith/organ masters..... "The Sermon" is prbably his most famous. I don't know all the Jimmy Smith albums, he made (and still is making) a ton.Of the many current, younger B3 masters I dig, Joey DeFrancesco and Tony Monaco stand out for me. They both know how to make the ...
Powering my Magnepan 3.0's I really don't know from Carver. My 3.6s LOVE the InnerSound ESL amp (600WPC @ 4 ohms). Clean, very open at the top and control at the bottom, it runs hot when I'm cranking but never a problem. I've seen used for $1500. HTH.
MarkLevinson331 BiAmp or Jeff Rowland 7 for MG3,6R I agree with Tireguy about the break-in, especially the woofer panels. Might want to give that item the rest of the month, at least, and see how the bass is then (play 'em loud). Of course, room placement is very, very important. Play with toe-in ...
Speaker cables for Maggie 3.5s Go on the PlanarAsylum and you'll get about 12 different responses in about 24 hours, if that's helpful.
Converting Mark Levinson gear from 240V to 120V Why not run a dedicated 240V line from your electrical box? Simpler and the equipment would probably run better anyway.
Good site for hard to find classical used and new Yo, Tweekerman. What's the web address? Google is stumped. It seems nobody can spell Herbie Hancock without adding an "s".
What Goes Around, Comes Around...? Actually, any of the current crop of female crooners, ie. Krall, Barber, Jacintha, etc.Let's see.....Jeri Southern, Peggy Lee, June Christy, Chris Conner, Helen Merrill, etc. And, although not really politically correct, I prefer the latter to the ...
Anyone using a Marchand crossover??? I have owned the XM9 and now own the XM44-3. These are high quality products, nicely built with no problems. Phil Marchand answers the phone when you call for info so it's a real 'hands-on' business. Buy with confidence. |
