Magneplanar 3.6R + Pass Aleph Amps Mate ? IMO, one needs a LOT of good, clean sounding power for the 3.6. I'm not familiar with the Aleph 5. I'm using an InnerSound ESL amp that warps out at 600WPC into 4 ohms. That gives me a clean 100db in-room.
Best Jazz Recordings of 2002 How's your Tony Monaco CD collection coming? He's next to Joey D.
What kind of power wakes up electrostatic speakers Respectfully disagree, but no flack. The InnerSound seems to need major break-in. Now usually I'm a little skeptical of all this break-in bidness, but, I personally experienced a break through with the InnerSound after a minimum of about a hundred...
who is Franco Corelli?? where to buy his LPs?? Of course, you are "politically correct", but, and it's a BIG butt, who else are you going to hear with that much voice doing the roles you mentioned? It certainly isn't Gedda or (really!) Alagna. I'm sorry about Alagna. I tried one of his aria CD...
The best CD Player for the money Used CD player has usually more deminishing return than the new one.I don't understand this statement. Do you mean that a used CD player is not as good as a new one?
SACD on Redbook Player Yeah, Thinkat, it seems we need more peace makers these days. But enough of that, what I'm really interested in is CD playback on SACD players.
Best Jazz Recordings of 2002 Saw Bill Charlap in August. A stunning pianist with great back-up.I'm a little surprised you didn't include the 5 star rated Bill Bruford & Earthworks double CD called "Footloose and Fancy Free", live and in your face, a great quartet and this...
who is Franco Corelli?? where to buy his LPs?? HELL of a tenor. More complete recordings are: I Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Manon Lescaut, Andrea Chenier, and numerous pirated recordings. LPs? That's a tough one.
$4500 amp beat out the Tenor OTL in the latest TAS Dear Brucegel:I have lathered on the jive time anti-persperant as well as the jive time mouth spray so don't you worry.I agree with you on every point. $4500 IS a lot to spend on a power amp(s).I apoligize for not arguing.
Magnepan vs. Martin Logan I've owned Martin-Logan Sequel II, CLSIIz, and reQuest. Good speakers but, turned up, I felt there was a "glare". I have Magneplanar 3.6 now. No "glare" but they need plenty of power to wake up and boogie
Classe 300 or Innersound Esl amp. for Maggie 3.5s? I plan to hear the InnerSound with my 3.6 within the next month, hopefully. But since the InnerSound comes with a 30 day trial, why not try? Perhaps Duke at audiokinesis.com would help.
Cocktail of choice when listening to fav music? Weller's 12 year old, neat, with Dove chocolates to hand. I drift from Mahler to hard & post bop.
Opera recommendations on vinyl LPs, eh? That could be tough. I don't know of any opera recordings, especially from the major labels, that are available on vinyl. It will be the used market only. Yeah, "Carmen" is a good choice, maybe with Callas and Gedda. My favorite Puccini o...
Mahler...OK I'm hooked Speaking of 'hooked', have you ever been to the Mahlerfest in Colorado in January? |
