Thinking of buying a solid state amp
I have the Innersound ESL-300 (600 WPC @ 4 ohms). After about an hour warm up it is very tube like, no edges exposed. This amp does not come up on the 'gon very often, usually for <2K. Roger Sanders founded his own company (again) http://www.sa...
Innersound ESL 300 Mark II.
I use an Aesthetix Janus to great effect with my ESL-300s. However, it has a phono stage which you don't need. Try the Aesthetix Calypso, same but just a line stage. There's a bunch of used ones on the 'gon. The remote has everything. The Innersou...
Magnepan anything new on the horizon?
You might want to check out the planar asylum. They try to stay up to date with Magnepan.
Getting back into analog
I like my one box Aesthetix Janus. It has many gain and load adjustments which are also available from the remote(!). I can't imagine needing more flexibility than this tube preamp provides. It can be had for <4K used, new is 6.5K with the late...
Cat friendly or actually unfriendly speaker
Jaybo is correct. Unable to cat proof.I kept my speakers covered in the plastic wrapping they came in when I wasn't in the room, listening. This works. So, get whatever you want. But now I have a man cave, separate building(!!!), and this is not an...
Jelco Tone Arms 9 and 12 inch
When I moved 2 years ago, the Koetsu arm on the Oracle Delphi MKI was damaged and I couldn't get the part. I suspect the Koetsu arm was OEM from Jelco. Anyway, I bought a 9" Jelco and I think it is a better arm. My Oracle with Koetsu Onyx has neve...

Subwoofers for Magnepan 20.1s?
I own a version of these with my hybrid stats. They do as advertised. They were specifically designed with Magneplanars in mind. Give Duke a call or email at audiokinesis.com. He'll give you more facts. Also, a friend of mine has the full tilt Pla...
Shure Dynamic Stabilizer on/off experimentation
I found, on an '80s AR TT with Sumiko arm, that the brush tended to act like another stylus and tried to make it's own music. I took it off, lowered the tracking force and I thought it was an improvement. This was on a V15/Type V.
Slowest played Goldberg Variation
My CD of the 1981 Gould recording states the length as 51' 14". So, you're saying that Dinnerstein's reading is 77' 20"?Wake me when it's over and, I want some of what you're having.

I might be persuaded. Live in La Grange and belong to the Houston Audio Society but it's a bit of a drive once a month.
Looking for some Art Pepper recommendations
Art Pepper + Eleven, great sound, especially on the 2 disc 45RPM version, great arrangements by Marty Paich.
Any Jonathan Kreisberg fans here?
Sure, I like his 2004 "New For Now" on Criss Cross Jazz. Gary Versace on B3 is a great colleague. This is the only one of Kreisberg's I have. Worthy.
Anyone using Speltz Anti cables XLRs
Why don't you ask Paul Speltz about the two conductor thingy?
Audio Mirror D2 - keep or no?
I like my D2 as do two of my friends, but, I think I'm going to sell mine to buy the tube dac (Tubador) that Vlad is now building. I have heard it and there is no comparison. In fact, for me, this is the dac to have right now. An amazing piece.
