Time to Own Up
Didn't figure it out dollar wise . but I purchased about 100 CD's , SACD , and bought an Ayre KX-R preamp and a C5xeMP Cd player over the last year . I think my spending habits are the opposite of 117's . What ever makes you happy .
Do people buy MAC gear for the blue meters
Theo ... I agree 100 percent . Appearance accounts for many sales and the manufacturers capitalize on it .
Room Acoustics: Long End vs Short End placement?
There are to many variables in your set up to give good advice . You will have to move stuff around and experiment till it sounds the best . If you require longer cables , most audio shops have demo cables they will lend you , if not borrow from f...
True Analog LPs versus Digital Recordings
Mapman , makes an excellent point as usual . Put another way , Its the results that matter to music lovers not the technology . When I study or try to understand a given audio technology I often come away with more questions than answers . I guess...
Is it good for a Krell to SIT for 3-5yrs
I have heard many horror stories of amps that have sat for extended periods , I think you should look for an amp that has been used regularly . If you find one at a honey of a price , you may want to talk to Krell first and make sure it can be rec...

Ayre XK-R vs Pass Lab XP-20?

Hi efficient speaker, bass problems
Stereophile recently claimed they had tested 750 speakers and the average sensitivity was 86dB . John Atkinson didn't come right out and say it, but seemed to prefer sealed box designs . The only sub Iv'e heard that didn't give away it's position...
Hi efficient speaker, bass problems
I don't no if the earth shaking aspects , couch and picture shaking is a product of low bass or to much energy at a given frequency Nonoise . The speakers I use go very low , the manual says ( -3dB @ 24 Hz ) and I don"t get shaking and vibrating ,...
Hi efficient speaker, bass problems
The Levinson amp did add some punch in the lower octaves , made the Luxman sound a bit unmoored in comparison , but lost out in other areas . Ive never had much luck with biamp set ups , but we decided to try it while we had every thing we needed ...

If you like Eva Cassidy why look else were ? She has many great disc's , and of the ten or so that I own not one was a bad purchase .You might try ...Time after time...Somewhere...Live at blues alley... Wonderful world...Imagine...If you like her ...
Here I go, shooting myself in the foot
Imagine going into a Radio Shack and asking for a specific tube now . They would probably look at you like you were on glue .
Should I use pre-amp
Sometimes a preamp will smooth things out . But if that isn't an issue , and you only have one source , I'd stay with what you have .
