Outstanding brands? If you want to get close to the music , consider Ayre , and it's no where close to the price of Zanden.
Has your HiFi changed your musical tastes Timrhu... I was hoping the age thing would be overlooked . Just as I have mellowed so has the music . But it's become more important and reveals more than just notes and cords . Are old favorites still sound great , Just as you still enjoy Jethro ...

Do you leave your components on 24/7? Paper ... You may claim thermal switching is B.S. but several manufacturers of equipment I own as well as my long time dealer tell me that leaving things on reduces brake down rate , Iv'e followed there advice for many years and have found this to...
Is there any bad sounding high-end gear--? There not in the hi end category but anything Totem makes . Even the new Winds sound like some boxes I owned in the 60's. Haven't heard an electrostatic that I would cosy up with either .
Can you hear matched power cables? Iv'e had the best results using all Shunyada Anaconda's and Pythons , keeping power cords the same length helps . To get the most out of there cords you need to use Shuyada's power conditioners too . As far as upgrading , if you have good cords no...

Do you leave your components on 24/7? Haven't had my stuff off for years , except to try a component or tweak . The bigger solid state amps seem to sound smoother after a few days of continued continuity . Brake down rate has been non-existent , accept for C.D. spinners .

what do you think of transparent reference mm1 Iv'e been using the Transparent Ultra speaker cables for a few years now and don't think there is much better bang for the buck . I will likely move up to there first level of Reference ( the Ref 2 ) when finances allow . I noticed the big wigs at...
High-end amplifier clarification? One of the above posters mentioned Levinson being hi end . I would not consider my Levinson #431 hi end . In fact I would not consider any of my system high end , ( see my system link ) . It used to be if you spent $10,000 on a single component yo...
How far apart do you position your speakers ? Great tread , lot's of good advice for a change . After much trial and area we ended up with the listening position just back of the triangle , that would likely put the speakers at about 83% apart .
Lamm ML1.1 - enough power for Sonus Faber Cremona? Iv'e had several friends with Sonus Faber speakers , and to make thinks sound right they both had to go to solid state amps . I can't say why this is , but I have found that all Sonus Faber speakers Iv'e heard had an excellent but slightly soft wa... |
