Anyone familiar with Straightwire Black Silc I bid on a pot that went for 1$ over my bid of 55. It was a model listed in current Newark catalogue for 1k. Hard to believe but true. If I was at a computer I wouldn't have let go that cheap. Try again.
Anyone familiar with Straightwire Black Silc I just shot off an email to moonaudio. I've seen his ads, he has good feedback every place I checked. Thanks for the tip. These cables are too nice to give up on. I got the price of the solder pot from my Newark catalogue. The $300 unit was the le...
Anyone familiar with Straightwire Black Silc Well after emailing Straightwire and doing a little research it looks like buying a solder pot is the way to go. As a decent new one goes for $300+, I'll keep my eyes open on ebay and see what they go for there. Straightwire wants $26.50 per spade...
Small Floor Standers My Kestrel HRs are in storage in the closet. They are my sentimental favorites, I'd give them to one of my kids before I sold them. Altough the last time I did that my Paradigm 9seMIIIs were blown up by my son.
Small Floor Standers A guy recently sold a pair of K2s here in the cherry finish for $600. I made an offer (too late of course) even though I had no place to put them. That may have been one of the years best buys.
Anyone familiar with Straightwire Black Silc For sure Nsgarch. That's what stopped me. I was checking continuity to ensure I wired properly when I found I could only get a reading on the very end of the wire. If I pressed hard enough the meter would read through the coating but that ain't go...
The WORST Components for Rock and Pop Music That makes a lot of sense to me as I usually listen to rock in the car where fidelity is not an issue. Good point mitch.
Small Floor Standers In-walls, YIKES!! You better hurry and get something even if it's temporary.
Anyone familiar with Straightwire Black Silc Wouldn't dispute the science behind that concept but it is hard to concieve seven feet of cable causing a noticeable smearing. It takes better ears or more discerning listening habits than I posess to catch it.
Album which you have listened to most? Threads like this one make Audiogon worth visiting regularly.Beatles, Abbey Road.Van Morrison, Moondance -- still gives me chills after all these years.Joni Mitchell, Blue -- I remember when this came out, riding around with my buddies and one of ...
My system is bright? I need help. thanks I agree with Tvad completely. Put a little more separation between the speakers, they need some room to breathe. Not only does this make sense, it doesn't cost a thing to experiment with placement.
Anyone familiar with Straightwire Black Silc Thanks for the info. As I said I tried heating the wire; used a small torch my wife bought for caramelizing. The wire was very hot (glowing) but the coating seemed to stay. I sent an email off to Straightwire. If they don't give me advice then I'l...
Small Floor Standers Have you considered Vienna Acoustics, Bachs. Very musical speakers and I believe less than 36 inches tall. Or has any one suggested the Monitor Audio RS-6 that recieved rave reviews in Stereophile. This speaker is only 33 inches tall. I haven't he...
Small Floor Standers My wife's thoughts exactly. "Why can't we get the little Bose speakers in our living room?" I moved my system into a vacant bedroom after hearing that question.
Best 5 disc cd player for the $ When someone asks "best for the $" I think cheap. This may not be your intention but look at the Harman Kardon FL-8380 or 85. I keep one in the closet as a back up. Not worth the trouble to sell but it sounds pretty decent, especially with HDCDs. |
