A couple of live shows that deserve mention
Josh Ritter's "The Animal Years" is an excellent album. I believe it's his major label debut. He came to Indianapolis recently and did a very nice show. Been a Jamie Cullum fan for a while but haven't seen his show.Oh yeah, I haven't got a clue wh...
The CD is Dead Long Live The CD?
Ahh yeah, those were the days. I would get bummed when I bought an album that had no lyrics or very little art work to look at while listening. But, those WERE the days. Now my daughter has tons of music on her ipod. No lyrics, no liner notes, as f...
The CD is Dead Long Live The CD?
"Vinyl still seems to be going strong" That statement hasn't been true for a quarter century. There may be a niche market but "strong" is definitely not the correct descriptor.
Live classic 70s Southern ROck......

Live classic 70s Southern ROck......

Any suggestions for good obscure music?
Well I have my work cut out for me now.I've been going to cdbaby for a few years now with mixed results. Some wonderful stuff along with some not so. Maybe I'd be better off if I took advantage of the preview function.A really good, and unexpected...
Vandersteen 2C versus 2CI, 2CE, etc.
If they are in good working condition and you expect to use them as an interim I'd say go for it. Be careful though as the Vandersteen sound is seductively smooth. You can always move up to the newer version when ready.
Any suggestions for good obscure music?
First off, thanks for replies. Second, I apologize for the location of this thread; I noticed it wasn't in the music category as I was hitting the "submit" button.I'll definitely be checking some of these out. As for my taste, I'll try just about ...
Trying to extract more from my Vandersteen
One aspect to keep in mind when positioning is the vertical angle. I can't stress this enough as it's what made the real difference for me. If you have them tilted back as recommended then remove most of if not all of the tilt and start from there...
Trying to extract more from my Vandersteen
After owning both the Vandy 1Cs and 2CE signatures my advice is to ensure proper set up and placement. I learned with the 1Cs that vertical orientation is critical to detail and image. This held true for the larger speakers also. I suggest this be...
Best POP audiophile recording/album...
XTC -- Apple Venus or Oranges and Lemons. Can listen to either of these over and over.
Integ Amps - Krell 400xi or Musical Fidelity A3.5
I went from the Panache to a Classe CAP-151. Only 50 watts more but a major sonic change. Better or worse is a matter of perspective as the Panache is one easy amp to listen to.It sur is nice to have remote control though.
Does MDF need to be painted?
A coat of primer, a couple coats of paint, two or three hours. What could be easier? Well worth the effort. Get one of those small, smooth rollers for the paint and yo can get a nice finish.
Questions for specialists on “warmth”
My Paradigm Studio 60s were cold and harsh. My Meadowlark Audio Kestrel HRs are warm and smooth. "Warmth" is easier on my ears.I thought this was a Mrtennis thread when I read the first few sentences.
