Can A Network Player/Streamer Be Hooked Up to Old School Receivers It works easily. I had a Bluenode 2 plugged into a 1970s Luxman CL350 preamp feeding into a 70s Marantz DC170 power amp. Worked flawlessly and enjoyed that in my basement setup for more than a year before switching some components again.
What do you like most? Jazz or Classic? @frogman That's definitely jazz but not the type that ever really resonated with me. While I totally admire the work and musicianship of Grusin, Ritenour, Gadd etc it was always a bit too slick for me. Maybe I should have said pre-Liberty Blueno...
Am I the only one that finds the "Round thumbnail frames" irritating on classifieds? I find that audiophiles are easily agitated ;-)
What do you like most? Jazz or Classic? I really don’t like the way violin lends itself to the type of jazz I enjoy the most, which is swing, bop, hard bop, soul jazz, and free jazz. None of the classic jazz ensembles of the 50s and 60s every really incorporated violin into their sessio...
Music streamer with no DAC and no storage? @djones51 Auralic Aries G2?
Movies employing music in a great way. To this day I can't hear "Stuck In The Middle With You - Stealers Wheel" without immediately thinking of the infamous scene from Reservoir Dogs. I'd say mission accomplished Tarantino!
Your favourite Christmas song....... I've always enjoyed playing the 12 tracks on Kenny Burrell's "Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas" recorded in 1966. Just played it today in fact ;-)
What unknown musical artist would you like to share with your fellow audiophiles? While not completely obscure, there’s no question that Robyn Hitchcock never "made it", certainly not to the extent his buddies Johnny Marr and Peter Buck did. It seems completely undeserved that he never attained equal levels of success despite h...
Tidal Hifi has a very limited jazz selection Is it pretty much a fact that Qobuz has a much more extensive jazz library? I see they advertise 170,000 albums in hi-res audio quality (total, not jazz alone). Anyone know how that compares to Tidal? I would switch in heartbeat to Qobuz when avai...
What unknown musical artist would you like to share with your fellow audiophiles? Well I'm now offended that anyone could fail to recognize iconic Monty Python quotes but I'm not sure deleting any posts will repair this offensive act. I will have to listen to music and try to repress yet another tragic life incident.
Movies employing music in a great way. John Hughes was brilliant in this regard with his timing and selection of particularly 80s tracks that fully captured the essence of his iconic films.
Tube info I really like the Brimar CV4003/12AU7 tubes that I got from upscale audio for use in my preamp.
Streamer always on? One of the main guys at Auralic, Xuanqian, indicates that he never turns off his device (or put it on standby). He just sets the screen as auto off and leaves it always on. Their devices do not have a true standby since it doesn't actually reduce...
What unknown musical artist would you like to share with your fellow audiophiles? @boxer12 Thanks for the recommendation on Mono. Will check them out this evening. Glad you got to see Low in person! |
