the best ''Best of'' Thread
I agree with Br3098. I have read many "best of" as well as "worst of" threads and this one seems to encapsulate all the emotions from blah to glee filled mind stimulus.I remember those days of olds when some threads had titles that didn't spark th...
Do you buy Insurance for Stereo Equipment?
I have it in my homeowners policy and made sure the agent had the extra value added for coverage. As far as it spelling out audio/video gear, it doesn't. But the value is there, if I want to spend the money on a boat that is my decision. But I hav...
How Do You Pronounce Thiel?
It is as mentioned, pronounced TEEL or TEAL but you must lean back about 5-7 degrees to make it sound correct! Just as BOSE pronounced BOZE should be pronounced facing in the opposite direction and Klipsch pronounced CLIP-SHH should be pronounced ...
Newbie Needs McIntosh Help
As a long time McIntosh owner I would say go with the latest and most power you can afford. You won't be disappointed. If you can wait on the CDP, that will allow you to spend more on the intergrated. Or maybe consider seperates.
What processor? Difficult room with lots of glass
I would suggest any Pre/Pro with room correction. This will aid in the setup and then you can fine tune it to your ears from there. Depending on budget anything from Marnatz to McIntosh, I am using and an Anthem Statment D2v and have found the ARC...
CD player closest to vinyl?
If you are asking, which CDP maintains or presents a more analog sound, timbre and warmth. I have been very pleased with my Ayre C5xe-mp especially since the MP upgrade. However, I can't be fooled if someone does a blind A-B between LP and CDP, bu...
Are Mcintosh Tube Amps really all that?
I think it is taste. You can ask the same of any brand. Each listener has his/her own set of priorities that they desire in a product. Much as car buyer that buys for economy may not agree with on the buys for appearance. I think the McIntosh buye...
TV/Audio Stands
Salamander looks very similar, also Lovan, Billy bags, to name a few. Actually I had never heard of audiav before. They look nice.
Pressing Issues
I agree with you on this theory Kennythekey, which would leave me to theorize that the last lap of the groove at the center of the lp should be the quietest groove on the record.
Pressing Issues
Also wouldn't it be evident on a CD as well?
copper slug
Actually aren't most power conditioners loaded with lead?
What more possibly could they offer consumers?
It does cause one to wonder, what more could be invented to improve on what we have at our finger tips. I am afraid that as our entertainment becomes more and more intergrated with computers and internet distribution, and the reproduction technolo...
Pressing Issues
From what I have always heard thru the years, Bill K, provided a short and precise answer. But it does add to the question: Why does vinyl sound better? It seems to have so many things against it. From the ever narrowing bandwidth from the outer g...
copper slug
plumbing fittings, heavy guage ground wire, old weather vanes, copper nails, old standing seam copper roof panels, old copper rain gutters, etc. Check some salvage yards in your area. I assume you want small granular peices for ease of compaction?...
isolation for built in stereo cabinets i'm plannin
If you are building it in, have you considered Isolation for each component? That would provide more freedom to experiment for each components' need.
