Phono Preamp Selection
Yes, Hagerman Bugle MC is probably a good option also. I built 2 Bugle 3s kits and liked them.  About as good as the EAR clone. Lounge Audio I believe has a large lead time, like a couple of months.

Is the Hana SH being discontinued?
I think I read somewhere it's being replaced, a new and improved thing. I could be wrong.

Nice table!
Rays Tubes
Man I'm having trouble getting a grip on all these Chinese tube and the good reviews.  I'm an NOS kinda guy! My experience with Chi tubes was from back around 2000 and I never went back. Now you got PSvane, Linlai, etc all getting some love. I ...
SUT Demo - Atlanta
Probably hard to find one to borrow as I assume most are inline and in use. Maybe just purchase an inexpensive Denon or in my case I got a Fidelity Research FRT3 for the work rig.  IF you go used and decide to sell you won’t lose too much turning...
DH Labs - Shunyata Cable Comparison
Boy, I was just thinking of 'upgrading' from Q10s to Shunyata or Nordost etc. but I think you might have put a damper on that!. I do run Pro Studios also, but not the cryo; maybe I look into that!

Cartridge upgrade
I would worry more about the phono stage rather than the TT although arm does matter. With the Chinook you should be good to go!

Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble?
@lalitk  If you just want to try for now, I would go with a Ned Clayton Cinemag 1254 off eBay.  It's adjustable 4 ways and is no slouch.  At least you can determine which amount of gain works for you and then you can go from there. A couple of o...
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble?
@sgordoxyz  Just to clarify: the 1660 are output transformers in the X upgrade. The 9226 are the SUTs (you can see them in the back near the MC inputs), which are the same as in the PH150.  The 9226 were chosen for the low gain. I use Hashimoto...
How cheap can you go and still be happy with the sound?
Knowing what I know now, I could probably live sub $1k. I recently subbed out my Modwright PH9.0 with a vintage Moth Audio phono stage ($200) and it sounds pretty good! I also picked up a Dual 1218 for $60. I put a V15 typeII on it. Add a decen...
Mainstream Phono Stages Incorporating Premium Branded PCB Parts - Do They Exist?
My Modwright has proprietary branded caps like Audio Note, from who I dunno.  The X upgrade in the PH9.0 in fact removes caps in the signal path.  I think it's not just about the caps but where they are in the signal path. At this price point I w...
