Goodbye Everyone
Yes, good luck.
Goodbye Everyone
@lewm You write, "Pradax is contraindicated in patients with AF, per an FDA directive" But I read the product monograph differently. It reads,  PRADAXA (dabigatran etexilate) is indicated for the:  prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in...
Martin Logan vs. Everything
I own a pair of ML Prodigy. They sounded good until I heard what appeared to be a middle C disconnect between ESL panel and cone driver (which @ghdprentice alludes to). Then I tried the Quad 2905 - much improved. Best of all, the Quad ESL’s can b...
Speaker placement Quandary
I have a purpose built listening room and simply could not make it work with conventional wisdom. In desperation I tried speakers on the long wall, 4 ESL's ( two T-configuations) close to the wall but angled, backed by records, the T's 4' apart. S...
Help me spend $100,000 on a new system
Sounds like you might be pretty good with your hands. Consider DIY - much higher performance, much more fun.
Help me spend $100,000 on a new system
My suggestion is "hang onto those cables." Cables are the least bang for buck and tend to be system-specific. Make any new cables show their superiority in your new system at your convenience. IMO As for the room, there was a feature about 4 year...
Is my amp good enough?
Don't forget used. There are some pieces that are indestructible, like Bryston electronics with their 20-year warrantee. Sounds very very good, not quite like the very best, but a pretty good approximation. You can buy a 20-year old design for fai...
Is my amp good enough?
I've done it both ways, successfully. You are in a very good place to make an upgrade to a forever system, one piece at a time. One piece at a time is the key. I heard speakers that I fell in love with, Magnapan Tympani 1A's. Bought them with the...
magnepan
PS: I've had some Magnepan in one of my systems continuously since Tympani 1A's in 1973. Fifty years of state-of-the-art which I could afford. I'll take a little inconvenience - but if you can't, there's lots of product nearly as good for 10x the ...

I called them to ask about the DWM bass panels. Front office left something to be desired, but tech services was great, twice. I bought, twice. The four DWM panels transformed my ESL system and my HT. As for customer service, sure, anything can b...
Goodbye Everyone
I'm a bit late, a year or so, par for the course. For what it's worth, Elliot, when I see your name I always read. Same for maybe a dozen others. Glad to see you still here.
True high-end Speakers need a midrange
Centre channel is for dialogue more than anything else. To me that spells ESL. I use a Quad 2905, and it is excellent.
Phono Stage, Tonearm, Cartridge Question - Which is the most important?
I would say phono stage. To get the best from a cartridge you need a great tonearm. To get the most from a tonearm you need a great table. From a table, a phono. But cartridges wear out fast. Tonearms don't. Tables don't. Phono stages don't. So i...
Quandry
Agree with @lewm  100%.
Still looking for a new Moving Coil Cartridge
Mono? Sure, ideally. But my Mayajima Zero mono is not as good, on mono, as my higher end Koetsu stereo. My higher end stereo Grado is better yet. Close, yes - but inferior refinement.
