Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? @mdalton Only a guess, no experience.
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? Sorry, missed the line about the Swissonor.
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? @mdalton I have tried 4 SUT's with my diamond Koetsu: lower cost Sowter (OK), Koetsu (a bit dull), Audio Note (expensive), and Lundahl 1931 AG (best transformer overall). My Mayajima hums when feeding the phono stage directly, so I use the 1931...
Best speaker brands for transient response @asctim not sub 1/10th millisecond issues that arise from the mass of the diaphragm, or slew times of amplifiers, My experience of slew rates is different. I am driving ESL's, and my amps sound good with 30V/us output transistors, better with...
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? Note that if you buy bare transformers as opposed to a complete box, you save most of the money you would otherwise spend for equivalent quality. Just saying'.
Step Up Transformers….Are they Worth the Trouble? I have a Koetsu diamond cantilever, and it sounds best with direct amplification. The silver Lundahl provides a close second to direct amplification. But better than either combination is the big Grado with the same phono stage. IMO. YMMV.
Has a Power Conditioner Improved Your Sound? Proof? What do you offer other than empty assertion?
Has a Power Conditioner Improved Your Sound? @thelonious527 When installed in my system it seem to roll off the top end. It took the ‘ sparkle ‘ out of the sound . I wonder if that's not the same effect which I have been observing these last 20 years - every time I make a major upgrade,...
Has a Power Conditioner Improved Your Sound? @ghdprentice says, Noise in audio is seldom heard directly… it is not a crackle or something you can focus on. Well said. My experience exactly.
Has a Power Conditioner Improved Your Sound? Isolation transformers sure do.
Aftermarket fuse to tame a bright system? Fuses have a standards-based rating. Manufacturers of electronics rely on these standards to protect their equipment. You can rely on industrial suppliers like Bussmann or Littelfuse or Eaton to deliver product according to the accepted standards....
Best speaker brands for transient response @audiotroy It seems that you think that cone speakers play louder. OK, we can agree on that. But the OP is talking about transient response. @sunmoon explains why ESL’s do that better than others, excepting plasma. I don’t understand how your st...
Dimond Cantilevers And Tip Mass My Koetsu DC was said to be one-piece, but a photomicrograph seems to show otherwise. In any case, there is no glob of epoxy to be seen - in fact, no evidence of epoxy at all. So, very low mass at the stylus.
Anyone adjust cart set up due to ambient temperature changes? Thank you Mac. I had a vague idea that cartridge and speakers might be happier in a room with a fairly constant temperature, but I didn't realize how important that was. I will take more care starting now.
Do your ears deceive you? The cables question is ill-formed. I would agree that there is a difference between the worst and the best. There are many physical properties to consider: Resistance; Capacitance; Inductance; Dielectric Absorption; RF rejection; connection integ... |
