Reccomendations for 802D's?
I used to own the 802d and would recommend moving them away from the front wall and corners. I found their bass to be a bit boomy and loose. I was able to tame it a bit by upgrading my pre and amp because I was unable to position them well into th...
Ayre K1xe vs. Simaudio P7, P8
I have heard both and think Ayre and Sim sound more similar than different to my ears. Both brands are incredibly transparent and detailed. If that is the sound you are going after, then you cant go wrong with either Ayre or Sim. My personal opini...
How would the Usher BE10 sound with Mac
I used to own the 802d and now own the Usher BE-10. Personally, I found the Usher to be more dynamic, transparent, and engaging. The 802d is good but I thought it was slower and warmer, being better suited for jazz. Given your musical tastes, I wo...
Dropout with my first Musical Fidelity DAC w Sonos
I have Sonos connected to my dac also without issue. Like sc53 suggested, try using either the analog side or a different digital cable. Have you had issues with dropouts before?

Pass Labs Power Cord
I used to own the Pass XA160 and had several conversations with Pass directly about power cords and they feel that their stock cords sound best. I did experiment with a few but found VERY little if any difference. I did the same experiment with my...
How often do you swap out equipment in general
I agree with Dennis_the_menace and timrhu. I just dont think I will get a major improvement without spending mega bucks, which of course I am unwilling to do (reality check: just 3 short years ago I almost choked at the thought of spending $2K on ...
Usher BE-10/20, what do you use to drive them?
semi, normally I would agree with you about Ayre and Usher. before the MX-R I did not care for the Ayre house sound at all. I have always thought Ayre sounded clean and transparent but a bit thin. The MX-R retains the transparency but does not sou...
How often do you swap out equipment in general
I am probably one of the worst when it comes to swapping out components. In the past 2.5 years I have had 4 different speakers, 4 different preamps, 3 different amps, and 4 different cdps. My system has remained stable for the past 2-3 months whic...
Esoteric G-ORb Master Clocks in general
The external clocks offer much higher precision than the clock found in the DAC (at least for Estoeric units).
Usher BE-10/20, what do you use to drive them?
BTW, I agree that the Ushers need a decent amount of power. I believe the impedance drops to 3ohms in the lower freqs.
Usher BE-10/20, what do you use to drive them?
Semi, for $5k, look at Parasound Halo JC1. I almost got these instead of my Ayre MXR. For the price, I dont think you will find many better amps.
Usher BE-10/20, what do you use to drive them?
I have driven my BE-10 with Parasound Halo A21, Pass Labs XA160, and now Ayre MXR. For my tastes, the Ayre really takes advantage of the Usher transparency, dynamics, and detail. I felt that both the HAlo and Pass was a bit too slow and veiled. Of...
