$510.00 for an Aluminum cover for the ARC Ref. 10? Like Mitcht said" spend 30k on a pre-amp and they ding you 500.00 for a cover" spend 10 times that on a Ferrari and pay 3500.00 for a carbon fiber coffee cup. The bottom line is they are laughing all the way to the bank.
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable mapman,You brought up that the difference between a Ferrari and a Toyota is easy to understand. That's why when you buy a Ferrari you are not hearing guys on car forums arguing that the Toyota is better. On the opposite side of the spectrum when a...

The New Audio Research Reference 6 Statman,Are you saying you bought a new ref-6 for 10k? That would be 30 percent off retail. I can't imagine ARC offering a 30 percent discount on a new product. If you are talking about buying a new ref-5se for 10k. That still doesn't make sense t...

Tone of Muisc, SF - worst hifi experience. Yours? That's high end audio for you. Limited customers, cut throat dealers. I love high end audio but from a business point of view it has to be one of the worst businesses to be in.

The New Audio Research Reference 6 I can't see buying a new one when you can pick up a mint condition Ref-5se for about 7000.00. And I doubt they are selling close out one's for 40 percent off retail.
Shopping for speakers at $1500-$2000 is a chore. I will say Fritz is one of the nicest guys in the business. I wish the retailers in Southern California were half as nice. |
