Inside the Iso Acoustics mechanism You probably don't want to know. Likely some low tech elastomer material originally formulated for some everyday mundane product. Not implying they don't work or worth the price, just keeping it real. A lot user reviews on their speaker stands ...
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's. bdp24, Yeah, this was a first to even find an original Freddie King LP in any kind of condition. I lucked out and found a VG "punchou" copy, which I was able to convince the owner to let go for $20. The other I’d like to get is the other Shelter...
How best to eliminate LP warps "No it is actually not, a wrapped record is stretched but all is depending on how bad the warp is" optimize- yes, that's what I envision what's physically happening. I'm thinking a simple flattening during playback thru a VPI type outer weight ...
How best to eliminate LP warps What’s surprising is how resilient the LP is. Amazing the LP grooves maintain integrity with all the deformation(is that even a word?) going on.
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's. Well.. the record is about 200 feet from the grocery store, and I had to pickup some things. Go me a Big Legged Woman https://www.discogs.com/release/15530449-Freddie-King-Texas-Cannonball bdp24-this is an interesting press. ''LA pre...
Is an isolation transformer better than a power conditioner? It improves the SQ but not dramatically. And it is two large chassis that take up a lot of real estate. And not particularly attractive. And we’re $18K new! One would expect transformative performance." You spent $18K, and yet... Testimony for t...
Disappointing short life of NOS preamp tube "It sounds like around 5,000 hours." ghdprentice- I''m thinking the tubes are now somewhere in the 5-7K zone, so yeah I'm not surprised to see one futz out now. Anyone remember buying the 5 pack when they were "new?"
Disappointing short life of NOS preamp tube facten- I've never cared/paid attention to tube hours, but the amp /tubes have served me well. Over the 6 year period there have been random marathon weekends of near 24 hour service, after work, almost daily 2 hour dinner sessions, random tim...
Awaiting a 1st impression "Congrats on your PL" kennyc- who purchased a PL EVO 300 hybrid? Wish it were me. I have a 6 year old PL HP. harrylavo- your insight is spot on.
non-high end collectables, radios..etc. When someone see's the brand Crosley or a few others today, it's just a name. Here is where those companies made their craft when plastic and transistors are weren't in use yet. Wood, metal and bakelite. Beautiful Art Deco pieces. http://qualit...
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's. "I’m much more a music lover than an audiophile, and consider good sound a welcome bonus, not a requirement." bdp24-we’re probably in the minority, based on some of the kooky threads started here! I only mention SQ since this is, an audiogeek for...
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's. I see my post wasn't complete not also mentioning some the songwriters of the songs. Jesse is guitar player. While the actual songs are good, JED's delivery I hear as "like it on not" or an acquired listen. Maybe not the last word in audiogee...
The birth of a new thread dedicated to sharing our newly-acquired "old" LP's. Listening to a new acquisition-promo DJ copy according to Discogs selling presently for $75.00. Scored for $15.00(caught the store owner in a good mood) All star guest players including Leon Russell and Donald "Duck" Dunn along with drummer J...
Anyone go from GN PH-10 to PH-1000? Your NVO likely sounds more convincing.
Beautiful listening rooms THE most difficult part of the equation. Get the listening space to look inviting and tranquil whether its a dedicated room or living space. Many setups look stellar as far as gear. Room aesthetics....not so much. |
