XLR cable with RCA output
Rowland research used to do that configuration too. Anyway, there is no advantage to XLR unless you do it straight balanced.
Suggestions for good shielded interconnects?
I have a Superscoutmaster/10.5i and the best I have found is the Anti-Cables. It is shielded, however, if you have a lot of electronic junk around, they will double shield it for you. I ordered the double shield to be positive, and it was dead qui...
Sound bottlenecks: Cartridge-Amp-Speakers
Have you listened to Vandersteens?
B&W 802D -- Classe' CA-5200 vs. Rotel RMB 1095?
I had the 802's and after getting rid of all the Cardas Cable, the best thing I did for my system was to get rid of the B&W's. To these ears, they are WAY overpriced for their performance. I bought them because I liked their looks after a trau...
Would Vandersteen 5a's be a good match for Krell?
I have Vandersteen 5A's (gorgeous Kowazinga finish) and are using Ayre electronics with them for a fabulous sound. I saw that you have Krell already, and I don't blame you for not wanting to replace them. Krells have always been a high end product...
Vandersteen 2wq Subwoofer Help
It seems to me, that the speaker was designed for spikes. If you like the Vandersteen sound, you should use them as intended. If you need spikes call Richard or your local Vandersteen dealer. All balls, blocks, new power cords, etc. makes the spea...
Maggies and rolled off treble
Anytime I've heard the Maggies, they behaved as a most wonderful midrange speaker. I suppose most of the sound is in the midrange so that's ok. The problem I have had with them, is that the "picture" is so small...it reminds me of headphone listen...
WBT Power Bridges or Dayton Jumpers?
Jumpers are not the answer. If you want the speakers to sound how they were engineered to sound, you must bi-wire them. ..that means - to do it properly, you need separate cables for the top half, and for the bottom half. If money is an issue, and...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
I use the "perfection" steamer with absolutely no deleterious effects. If you hear extra noise, I suggest that you steamed some extremely dirty "garage" records and may have moved the dirt to a new place. Try steaming the same record again and see...
Vinyl vs. digital: what am I doing wrong?
What????? Studio 68...I hear the exact opposite. I have an Ayre C5xe CD player - not a slouch, however the vinyl is warmer, more 3 dimensional, more air, ...just more real. If you didn't hear the vinyl, the CD is wonderful, but I do hear the vinyl...
Vinyl vs. digital: what am I doing wrong?
Is this a new cartridge?? If yes, you have to wait for (sometimes) 100's of hours before it sounds its best. I have posted this statement before....I have NEVER found anyone to take the time, effort, and interest than I in setting up my table...no...
Slate vs Granite vs Maple?
Non of the listed is very good - they all impose their sonic signature to everything. I have had success with Gingko products. Check their website. They are mighty nice people too.

Again - sorry - I certainly didn't mean anything by my post, except to say that the Rega is a good value for the money, but not like the higher priced spread. I am a professional violinist - I am sure you have heard me play. I chose the VPI becaus...

I too had a fully tricked out P25, however when I went to a fully tricked out VPI Superscoutmaster, it brought me to an entirely different level. I don't want to break your bubble...the P25 is a great value, however it doesn't begin to run with th...
VPI Super Scout Master questions/concerns
I have a Supercoutmaster, and don't know what you guys are talking about. I had a 9 Sig that I changed to a 10.5i, and never had any problem with either of the counterweights. I suspect if you have to put any kind of muscle into it, something is w...
