Wow what a difference. It sounds absolutely effortless now, whereas it sounded as though it was shouting before. What a difference!! Thanks Kurt_tank.
.. A Conundrom....
Thanks Kurt_tank... Its odd that Ayre didn't change their owners manual. Also, I was speaking about this very issue to Mike W - who is in charge of production at Ayre who didn't mention this to me. I do thank you for that information however, will...
Tracking Force
I had a Grado Sonata low output and it tracked anything at the manufacturers suggested tracking weight. Remember as you add (or subtract) VTF, you should adjust the VTA
An Audiophile Goal
Hi Acoutat6... I'm not shouting, just saying that Rock music never works softly, nor do string quartets work loudly. Are you saying never to touch the volume control, or do you somehow assess the loudness level of the piece. When I go to a concert...
An Audiophile Goal
BECAUSE ROCK MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE LOUDER THAN string quarters
Graham Phantom damping fluid level.
I have a VPI arm with damping ability. I add the oil one drop at a time and listen. Deapth, width, and air is added with every drop, then BAM it all falls appart. I take a Q-tip to remove that last bit of oil, and Im satisfied.

Koetsu Urushi+SMEV anti skating setting help
The Koetsu arm has no anti-skate, because its really a waste of time. It cant be set correctly. It is a dynamic force that increases and decreases with loudness and frequency. VPI too recomends no anti-skate.
Vibrapods under Bright Star for VPI Scout
I found that vibrapods muddy the sound in my system
TT mat suggestions...
I like the anti-mat (very cheap with a kind of tube sound), and the Boston mat (little more expensive with a more solid state sound)

Ortofon Jubilee vs. Dynavector XX-2 Mk. 2
I'm not that familiar with the xx-2. I have listened extensively to the Jubilee, and know people with good ears who swear by it. It doesn't do it for me. It sounds Hi-Fi rather thn musical to me.
