Valhalla interconnects - recommended?
Personallyl, I think the whole Cardas line is awful..their power cords are especially sinful. The thing about Nordost Valhalla is that it takes a very long time to break in. I don't hear a brightness, but rather a cleanliness, or clarity that real...
grado hum
There is nothing to do. It is system dependent and if yours hums, live with it or change the cartridge
To damp or not to damp JMW-9 Sig ?
Harry said that it is true that damping could be adjusted by that top screw, however, it is real easy to screw up that adjustment and therefore it is not intended for us owners to screw around with it.
The VPI Rim Drive
I just moved from NJ to Scottsdale...My whole system is in boxes, but will put it together today. I have the belt Supersoutmaster, and the kit to convert it to the rim drive. I'll let you know later.
Rega p25 to vpi scoutmaster or phono stage and mc
I had a Rega 25 completely decked out with every possible upgrade. I went to a Superscoutmaster with 10.5i arm. I put my old cartridge - a Grado Sonata low output into the new table and was very happy. I then got a Benz Ebony and went WOW!!
Is turntable == phono stage == cartridge right?
If the VPI Scoutmaster doesn't do it for you, there are many improvements/upgrades from VPI. Personally, I'd look elsewhere. The Scoutmaster is a wonderful table.
Stereo Sound cart rankings
Rediculous..
Best protractor for aligning to cantilever
Harry W told me that the DB protractor is a very good one as well.
What tonearms work with denon 103r?
Audiofeil - I think you are correct regarding Benz's. I've been futzing with the Ebony LP for months now, changing every parameter and it really falls short. Its not that its bad, only there are better ones - even in the Benz line that are better....
What tonearms work with denon 103r?
No Dan_ed, I'm already married. Regarding the Denon..I do have a good phono stage, and wonder why so many cartridges beat the pants off of the Denon. If you listen with open ears, you too will be disappointed in it. There are almost an infinite le...
Best Cartridges for the Money You've Experienced
..just for your information....I had a Grado Sonata low output. I thought it was wonderful until I replaced it with a Benz Ebony. ..no contest. The Grado was grainy, brown and colored, limited bandwith, etc. The change was a jaw dropper.

I suppose my check is in the mail...
What tonearms work with denon 103r?
To these ears, (and I've read all the gushing) I think the Denons are worth 200 dollars and nothing more. I think they have poor dynamics, are very limited in bandwidth, have stiff cantilevers, and as such to even get the best it can offer (yawn) ...
Best Cartridges for the Money You've Experienced
If you set up your turntable properly, there is no "up" only a trading of differences at your stage. Go spend your money if you must - mail me a check while you're at it
What's the next upgrade step??
I have changed things more than a couple of times and always found that once I have a good arm, cartridge upgrades provide more bang for the buck. Moving from one top grade arm to another may change color, etc, but I could live with a Phantom, SME...
