Would a subwoofer sound better?
You shouldn't hear a sub as a sub. The inclusion of a powered sub crossed over properly frees up your amp for better performance.
ayre mx-r versus audio research ref150
No one but you can make that decision.....I would call John Rutan at Audioconnection in New Jersey who sells both units for advice, but you MUST listen for yourself at that price. I think you can't go wrong with either, but its a bunch of cash and...
Sennheiser HD 700s need a lot of break-in?
Why worry. Just play it
would 50 feet speaker wires be harmful to amp?
I wouldn't worry about it,
Micro Seiki, or TW AC-1
I had only compared the M/S and TW once...a few months ago, and thought the M/S far better. I know that owners don't want to hear this, but the TW sounded flawed to me. Maybe it was the setup, but I heard the downplay of TW from a few people....ch...
PS Audio GCPH to loud . Where to go next?
At least CALL PS Audio and talk to them about it. If you don't get a result that you like, I would send it back to them for a look see.....
Sheer Audio MM-77 tube phono preamp - - ?
My advice is not to listen to anyone, but to enjoy your new purchase.
VPI Scoutmater II W/JMW-9S/Lyra Delos
I am not a fan of Koetsu myself, but the arm will be ok with it. You might check with VPI as to the rear weight you will need. I am using a Benz LPS which is very heavy, but works very well with the VPI arm. (I have a 10.5i, but the 9 incher is ve...
Anyone using Speltz Anti cables XLRs
No....the balanced cable is 3 conductor....look at the spiral around the red coil. I am using the silver version... a bit better in the highs than the copper. I have copper ones if anyone needs any....1/2 price.
Remove your bias for better sound
Almarg.....What I hear is a "freedom", and suspect that the constant force of the anti-bias is damping the stylus. With or without the anti-skate connected or disconnected I don't see any deflection of the stylus....it always sits between the spac...
What are your favorite phono cartridges?
KMKarty....I absolutely agree. I had an LP, and now an LPS, and the new one is far better....much more musical....much greater ease....everything is better.
Possibly controversial: Totem arro overrated?
Before you go nuts and sell your speakers make sure they are set up properly. Make sure that they are square (use a bubble level). When they are square, put a laser pen on the top and swing the red laser dot on to the far wall. Put a post-it note ...
Is it worth buying a headphone amp?
I listen to Sennheiser 650's with a seperate headphone amp and it is the best sound I've ever heard. I have a pair of Sen. wireless phones which I use when my wife doesn't want to hear the stereo or tv. These are MUCH less expensive than the 650's...
Importance of line stage pre--Who Knew?
...a bit of a caveat......most changes (subtle, grand, good, bad) are perceived as a "Wow". Live with this new one for a few weeks and discover ITS warts...you just might want to go back to your old one.
Screw-down reflex clamps vs. record weights
If you have a light platter/suspended chassis, a light weight or clamp probably is the way to go....if a big, solid turntable, a heavier weight is probably right.....however, you will never really know until you try each kind for yourself.
