I can't handle digital after analog light my fire
You need a better CD player....CD if done right is very good indeed.
VPI and TTWeights for VPI Classic 3
As usual, I have found that EVERYTHING changes the sound. I have the Classic platter and tried not using the rubber mat and liked the sound, but then felt that I liked the sound with the mat in place better. I have to live with any new sound for a...
VPI SSM Ref setup variations
I have found that MY rim drive works best with the turntable as solidly braced to the supporting table as possible. That means that there is to be NO movement at all under the table. That is why the use of Bearpaws rather than the mini-feet work f...
VPI Platter Spinning SLOWLY
Regarding the difference between the Classic platter and the Super platter.... The Classic is much more open, extended, and faster. The Super platter may have perceived better bass, but only because all the other stuff is recessed and kind of turg...
Cable Recommendations
I found that price does not mean anything with cables. You just have to try each of them in YOUR system to hear what each of them can do. I am using Anti-Cables with great success, any Cardas cable just ruined the sound for MY system....yet Cardas...
VPI Platter Spinning SLOWLY
If your Classic is relatively new, the platter comes with a dry lubricant on it already. It may need to be lubed after a year or two. I got the Classic platter for my Superscoutmaster/rim drive, and made the mistake of putting lube on the bearing....
Headphone Amps
I am using the 650's balanced with a balanced BUDA headphone amp ....look at Headphone.com. This is the best recorded sound I have ever heard. (I use it with the optional Cardas balanced cable into an all Ayre system. The sound is remarkable
New terrastone footers and plinth for VPI classic1
In addition to all the Terrastones I have in place, I also have Bearpaws under the turntable. If I put them under the turntable...... Can it be that too much of a good thing is too much?
Is anyone familiar with the Ayre Dac??
I already have an all Ayre system - amp, pre, and c5xemp..... I love the support I get from Ayre, which made me think of that brand for the DAC. Thanks for the input
New terrastone footers and plinth for VPI classic1
I am with you on the Terrastones. I put them under my preamp, its separate power supply, the CD player...and they all sound better Three cheers for Dan
Vandersteen 2ce questions
The best guy to talk to is the guy who built them and is well acquainted with them. Call Richard Vandersteen at the factory. If he's not there, he'll call you back. Go to the website Vandersteen.com for the phone number. He's one of the nicest guy...
Decent entry level turntable?

Analog upgrade advice.
You will be amazed at what you can do to better your Rega. Try putting Cardas blocks under your table. The difference will be huge.
VPI Classic hum
If you ran your tonearm/cartridge in balanced mode, you would be able to turn up your volume control to the max and not hear hum. (if indeed you have a grounding grounding issue) As I read trough the above posts, I still think that Bearpaws would ...
Where to start upgrade
I have been "upgrading" since I was 14 years old....the MOST expensive path to audio perfection.
