Beethoven Symphonies - best perf + sonics on CD
Lots of approvals for Gardiner, but I think for ME, the sound and the performance is not good. The 3,5,9, sysmphonies are the worst for me, but the others are better.
How do I use this speaker cable???
I agree with Ecruz
Grado Sonata, Signature 8MZ, Shure V15VXMR
Raul...I don't really understand your question. I had the Grado in a Rega table with its own arm that was rewired and with dropped counterweight, and adjustable VTA (a pain to work from underneath the turntable, but it worked). The cartridge went ...
Phono interconnect under $500 used
Money should not be your mark of distinction for an interconnect....performance in YOUR system should be. You will only know what sounds best by auditioning cables in YOUR system. Don't discount less expensive cables such as Anti-Cables, Morrow Ca...
Just Ordered...
I would ask for John at AudioConnection in New Jersey. He is a top notch Vandersteen expert, and knows full well what works with your speakers
Simple & Cheap Way to Cut Turntable Vibrations
Bifwynne.....Your post is not what I have found. Very light (Ikea) tables do wonders for turntables like the Linn....VPI's sound the best with a very solid platform... no play at all.
Interconnects that offer a mid-bass lift
kiwi....you really shouldn't use cables as tone controls... get the proper components.
Vandersteen 5a battery biased crossovers
Actually, getting the crossovers out is not hard at all...send back the silver boxes that the amps plug into as well. I've done it, sent it back to Vandersteen and reinstalled all of it....result is better sound....easily heard
Parallel? How do you set the VTA?
This is a very good question. You simply cannot adjust it with the eyeball method.... The playing card method might be good but only providing your arm has absolutely no taper to it. The only arm that I have used that makes this adjustment easy is...
What to upgrade if at all
I agree as to the cartridge upgrade, but be careful of room treatment....most people overdo it.
Jeff Rowland Aeris DAC : my experience
I am happy for you that you are so pleased. I always prefer having components manufactured by the same company. I too had Rowland stuff...Jeff is a great guy... I'm sure you write what you hear, but all too often, great sounding components in a pa...
HELP PICKING NEW TURNTABLE
I would rather have a VPI if I were you.... easy repair if necessary (great support from VPI), and valuable in the trade in/up market.
To ring or not to ring?
Get the VPI ring
Change INTEGRATED or Add AMPS?
Dump the Rotel
Bi-wiring with different cables for HF and LF?
All wires have a particular voice. By using different cables you are voiceing the high section differently than the lows. Coherence is compromised. However...you can do what you want...no damage
