Neil Young/ CSN new vinyl releases Just got the 180gm box set and cleaned them tonight. I plan to play them all in the am. Hoping they live up to the hype. This is good stuff. I hope they are considering a second series comprised of On the Beach, Comes a Time, Tonight's the Night, ...
Upgrade from TW Acustic Raven AC-3 to what? Alectiong, I've heard the Raven and really liked it at Highwater. I really like the sp10 mk2 better though at a fraction of the cost. Properly replinthed(which can be done for you) it is hard to beat. I would suggest trying something like this bef...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? I have one of the NOS M20FL Supers coming from the German seller on eBay that Raul has pointed out. I think it will work well with the EPA 500 A501H wand. The NOS M20E Super is tempting as well but the cartridge db lists dynamic compliance for the...
Belafonte at Carnegie Hall You may find the copy you thought was inferior sounds better after inverting the phase. I have the stereo double LP and it definitely sounds more natural that way. I have read accounts on-lone that a good portion of this recording has inverted pha...
New To Vinyl... Seeking Recomendations Scott, Recommendations always help but you'll find some of the most fun you'll have is finding these "reference" recordings on your own. Used vintage vinyl(well cleaned) is an inexpensive way to discover music you may never have tried. Without it,...
How do you steam clean vinyl LP's? I think the 16.5 is one of the smartest moves in cleaning. Spend less and you get less, spend more and you really don't get any essential advantages. Make sure to use a separate cork mat for the clean side and a different brush for each step. I al...
Dynavector XV-1s and JMW 10.5i question I lived with the 10.5i for a while and my first suggestion would be to not be afraid to mess around with your setup. If Fremer's DVD helps you feel better with this it's money well spent. Only you can put in the time and experiment to see what wor...
Technics EPA-500 users The 500 isn't alone in this reguard. Some very pricey and highly reguarded arms don't allow for azimuth adjustment(Grandeeza, SME 512s). I think the flexibility of the system will make up for this potential shortcoming. With a base installed on ea...
Technics EPA-500 users I wish I could help more but I'm just getting into this arm system myself. So far I have one base and the a501G and A501L arms with another base and the a501H on the way. I will say that the base I do have did come with the rubber gasket and from ...
Tonearm choices for xv-1s mono Thanks for the input. Initially, I'll try this with the low compliance adapted EPA 500 wand since I have already bought that. If it's adequate, it will be the best low cost solution. The dynamic damping built into the wand may make this a good mat...
Tonearm choices for xv-1s mono Raul, No, I haven't had a chance to try it on the EPA 500 yet because the table for it won't be ready for a while. That may be a good first step though. I also wonder about the Ikeda 12 inch which I think you may also have. I can't find an effecti...
Benz Micro LP S vs Air Tight PC-1 w/ files I have both an Air Tight PC-1(Supreme) and a Benz LP. In my system, on most days I really prefer the detail and dynamics of the Air Tight but I certainly don't knock the Benz for it's slightly more reserved presentation. I would say there's really...
Compatibility of SME arm and Air Tight cartridge Aronsss, I found the PC-1 Supreme to be an eye opener. In my system, more detailed and dynamic. I also really enjoy the Benz however and, most recently, the xv-1s mono. Whenever possible, audition these pieces yourself and see what you prefer. The...
Compatibility of SME arm and Air Tight cartridge Raul, I have long respected your opinions here and still do. I must differ with you on your "hi fi" statement about the PC-1 Supreme though. It makes music in my system. I think this just underscores that there are no analogue experts here(or anyw...
How loud do you like to play your music? Thanks for the correction Albert. It looks like the app is called Soundmeter and costs $19.99 as opposed to $.99 for Decibel or Db but should be more flexible and accurate. Worth a try. |
