bookshelf speakers - what to buy?
What characteristics of sound reproduction are most important to you and what are you most looking to improve upon?
Help me with my short list
There's a Bel Canto DAC3 for sale here now.  I had it in my main system on extended demo and it is an extremely good DAC and looks like it meets your other needs as well.  Worth a look for sure.  Best of luck.
Rythmik subwoofers?
I have an SVS SB2000. Although I have a dedicated listening room I’ve only yet used it in my HT setup. I can tell you that my room is a bit larger than yours, and on movies with the relevant bass this thing literally shakes my whole first floor se...
SVS Speakers or Something Else? Absolutely Newbie.
I don't think you'll be disappointed by SVS.  I have their SB2000 sub and they're a great company to deal with and offer very high quality products overall.  If you choose their 7.1 package I'd try to see what it would cost to upgrade to their Pri...
Request advice-need "brighter" speakers than Totem Hawks
Have you at least called your dealer yet?  They should be very willing to help and provide info on this.  They should also be offering to bring speakers to you or vice versa since you're clearly not happy and you bought the speakers from them.

Do chairs sound better after they're warmed up or broken in fully?  Has anyone noticed a difference after having their chair cryogenically treated?
Surround Processor/Receiver for HT addition to 2 ch system
So you now have to combine your sound systems and buy a new AVR because you invited your girlfriend to move in, but not finding the HT bypass is what makes you feel like a moron?  Dude.

Been following this thread in sympathy both as an audiophile and as a fellow drummer.  I know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to reproducing cymbals, and I feel your pain. Given the relatively extreme nature of the issue and the eq...
Usher cp-6381, lacking in bass?
Make sure the guy with the sub has a good return policy.  Heh heh. I'm no sub expert, but REL seems to favor speaker level output to their subs if you can do it.  I read a review of your sub where the reviewer preferred it that way for music dutie...
Usher cp-6381, lacking in bass?
Subs help out with much more than low bass and could very well help do exactly what you're looking for along with possibly improving upper frequencies and overall soundstaging and imaging.  You don't need (or even want) a sub out -- that's more of...
Usher cp-6381, lacking in bass?
Your situation would seem to be crying out for a sub or two.
Paradigm Personas anyone heard them
"When you have exactly the same material for the tweeter and midrange the speaker sounds 100% coherent, there is no issue in getting the drivers to blend."I’m not a speaker designer nor an engineer by any stretch, but there’d seem to still be seve...
Evolution Acoustics MM2/MM3
Don't know if you can really go wrong with the EAs, but there are so many options out there at these price points.  The thing that really puzzles me most is why you feel the need for bass/treble controls, which will greatly limit your options.  My...

My friends already think this high-end audio stuff is nuts.  Can't wait to tell them there was a serious discussion about which chairs sound best.
In wall vs regular speakers?
A buddy of mine had tower fronts and in-ceiling surrounds, and I thought it worked surprisingly well.  The rear speakers being behind the listening positions produced a nice, diffuse surround sound that created a very seamless and immersive experi...
