KEF, ProAc, Monitor Audio and others Given what you're looking for you should try to hear Joseph Audio Perspectives if at all possible. You seem to know what you like when you hear it so just trust your own ears and forget all this other hoopla. Best of luck.
Opinions on Various McCormack amps To answer OP's last question, years ago I asked Steve a similar question and he said the DNA 125/225 were roughly on par with his B revisions of the older units. So that would make the Rev A amps a sizeable step up from the stock 125/225.Might be...
Confused! How many hours of playtime have the Elacs had? I wouldn't judge most speakers until at least 100 solid hours on them.
$20K to spend on speakers…. . wait! There’s a catch! Well, under these extremely narrow set of variables, I'd have to say go with speakers that rarely offend anyone and that get consistently positive reviews. Agree with Shadorne that if you love a particular house sound it makes a whole lotta sense...
Current recording engineers - what cables used? I think this is a great thread. Haven't had time yet to go and read the articles but really looking forward to it. For my part, I've been using an Apogee Wyde Eye digital cable for years and can't seem to take it out of my system. Stupid cheap ...
Amp selection for someone on a modest budget... There's a McCormack DNA500 and Clayton M100 monoblocks for sale here now that would be worth a look. If one becomes available maybe a Plinius SA103. What amp are you using currently? Best of luck.
My speaker quest Lots of good suggestions. I'll add Joseph Audio Perspectives as I find ProAc and JA possess similar strengths. Best of luck.
Please suggest bookshelf with best bass response under $4000 pr. You have some really nice monitors. If u like the rest of their sound I'd highly recommend adding a sub with some integration hardware to help them blend. Specifically, I'd get a used DSpeaker antimode 2.0 for about 500 bucks and an SVS SB1000 u...
No bass from the Clue speakers. Call the manufacturer. They contend they can make the speakers work fine in most situations and that placement is critical, so best to go right to them. The idiot at Stereophile never bothered to do this despite having the offer to do so, and as...
$3000 Speaker Search +1 Twoleftears. Proac and Silverline would seem to provide what you're looking for, and I'll add Joseph Audio as well. Tough to find 3-way Proacs or JAs in your price range, but there's a pair of Silverline LaFolias at a bit over your price that...
Help me narrow down some speaker choices There's also a nice pair of Joseph Audio Profiles for sale here at a good discount, which probably get pretty close to the Pulsar and Perspectives in performance.
Switching to solid state amp? There's a pair of Clayton M300s for sale here now that would be worth a look. Thinking Class A amps might be your smoothest transition to SS. Best of luck.
"Best" mini-monitor? Flyby alert!!!
GoldenEar vs Dynaudio vs Nola vs ProAc vs Everything else. Given your space restrictions I'd take a look at the Von Schweikert Vortex VR35. Made to work close to room boundaries, they get stellar reviews and sold factory direct so may even have in-home trial period but not sure about that. Best of luck.
Help me narrow down some speaker choices Pair of Joseph Audio RM25XLs for sale here now that should check all your boxes and will work well with your amp. Best of luck. |
