John Palumbo Fans unit Oh yeah, been a CtS fanatic since I saw them years and years ago bringing down the house in a tiny place in Toronto. Particularly love the LPs "Safety in Numbers", and "Live Sky" with the blow-out guitar extravaganza rendition of "Surf City" and t...
can anyone recommend a good rubber preservative? That was the best laugh I've had in some time on this forum - thanks Kublakhan and Tarando!
Audiophile turntables of the 60's and 70's Many thought the Philips 212 and later 312 were cool because of the light up speed switches.I owned the lower Micro Seiki models - the DD-40 was actually a pretty sweet table, for direct drive - had the MA-505 arm on it.
Anyone like the new Spocks Beard? Not as good as in their heyday with Neil (V), not as bad as Octane, IMHO.
Creek OBH-11......a couple questions Find a used Chase RLC-1, if you can. This unit provides boost and has a remote, very useful with subs!
Mapleshade brass tubedampers Tried 'em, broke a tube right off the bat, boxed 'em back up and returned 'em. Have kept the Herbie's Hal-O's and highly recommend them. They seem to remove just a tad of grain or noise from the sound. You mileage may vary, but I like them!
Sumiko Blackbird or Dynavector 20x for VPI? Hi!Amazing - I came down to the same two carts for my VPI, and ended up going with the Blackbird, for that nth degree of detail and air around instruments over the 20x, which had a bit more bottom end depth in my system (Audio Physic Virgos/Audibl...
Jethro Tull Remasters - Better Sound? In a word, yes. I always found the Tull albums very flat, with cardboard bass and dull highs. The remasters fix all that, and although there are a few strident moments here and there, they are well worth picking up. Benefit in particular has loads...
Interconnect - Does short length hinder sound? Did a weekend shootout once between my Kimber Silver Streak .5m vs. 1m vs. 2m. Tried them all between my Shanling T-100 and Audible Illusions pre, then between the pre and Nuforce Ref 9s. Darned if I could hear any difference at all. When I brought...
Cooling fans for tube amp Parasound makes an audio cooling unit called the Zbreeze you may want to check out, if you're non-DIY (like me).http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=2PAZBREEZE
Anyone try the Paul Speltz Anti Wires? Sorry, didn't mean to be vague, just brief. In my system, the Speltz cables initially sounded OK, but after extended listening I found that they emphasized the highs, lacked soundstage depth, and masked the "air" around instruments and vocals. To m...
Anyone try the Paul Speltz Anti Wires? The Audio Art Cables blow them away, for only a few more bucks. I did a direct shootout comparison - see my previous thread - and the Audio Arts beat even expensive Cardas in my system. YMMV of course, but try 'em, you'll like 'em!
Yahoo transaction? Western Union? Or just scam There is no such thingsponsored by Yahoo. RUN!
Speaker Tilt Back benefits? Thanks, y'all! I'm buying new spikes because the old set was lost in a move, and I was using inferior and cheap spikes - had one of those "aha" moments the other day and realized new spikes would probably improve the sound quite a bit. I've just t...
Placement of dual subwoofers... I would say yes, if you don't want to ruin the rhythm and pace of your music. Placing subs in the corners in a high end system will result in more bass QUANTITY, but it may be a bit bloated and slow. Dr.Gizmo Harvey Rosenberg wrote some stuff on t... |
