cary v12i and v12r I have the "i" version, and have heard the "r" as well, and imho, there was very little difference between the two, although I thought the "i" was just a tad more refined and quieter.I love my Cary, have had zero issues with it over the last few y...
LP jackett maintance and fix? I have had success getting rid of cigarette odor on LP jackets by "sealing" them up in a tupperware type container for a few days with an open box of baking soda. A spritz of Febreeze before sealing up will also help the really bad ones.
Martin Logan Source or B&W CDM NT7? Hello!Wow, two totally different speaker types, both excellent. You said media room, I'm assuming you are using the same system for music and video? If so, I would highly recommend the B&Ws - the MLs are great, but IMHO they lack the dynamics ...
Recommended amp for Ohm Walsh Super 2's? The Nuforce Ref9s also work very well with these speakers, enough power and speed to make wonderful music.Enjoy!
Lightbulb Sun re-released An excellent remaster of an excellent album!Just received "Fear of a Blank Planet" on DVDa as well - had to order direct from PT as I couldn't find it anywhere else. The sound is very good in 5.1, and "Nil Recurring" is included in the package, bu...
Jess Chambers - great new pop Excellent, unique and interesting! Thanks for the tip!
Comparison of B&W's 685s and CDM or 805 Nautilus? I would agree with Kjweisner - I've heard the 685s and own the CDMSE1s, and while the 685 are indeed great speakers for the dough, the CDMs, in my opinion, are much more refined and ultimately more truthful to the recording space and detail - soun...

Best poweramp $2-4K matched with Cary SLP-98 I am using a Cary v12i with the SLP-98 and the synergy is awesome! Wonderful timbre & soundstaging - very musical. Should be a nice match with the Proacs if you're not a headbanger.Enjoy!James
Gingko vs 4" Maple Platform I have compared both - the Gingko is awesome under the VPI tables, an easily noticeable upgrade from the maple block!Go for it!
Shelf Help Lovan Rack One idea - replace your glass shelf completely with a Neuance shelf. You'll get noticable improvements in every aspect of your sound, especially under your table. I did this, one shelf at a time, and am thrilled with the improvements. Google Neuan...
Riggle Vtaf w/Rega P9 & RB1000. Good idea or not? Hello,My vinyl rig is a VPI HW-19 JR, with RB300, with Sumiko Blackbird cart. The table sounded "nice" before, but adding this, I now hear what all the analog shouting is about.
Riggle Vtaf w/Rega P9 & RB1000. Good idea or not? I can't recommend this enough. Benefits are many, including not just the VTA-ability, which is indeed a major improvement, but the overall change to the suspension of the arm opens up the soundstage and lowers the record noise. Go for it - you won...
Gingko vs. pucks Have a Gingko under my Scout, it is quieter and cleaner than anything else I have tried (BDRacing, Myrtlewoods, Bright Star air and sandbox, etc etc).I love the Gingko and highly recommend it, however, I have not tried the Aurios.Good luck!james
What's the best power conditioner The Audience power conditioners have made the biggest single improvement in my system. But these things, like most everything else, are highly system dependent, so ymmv. But highly recommended! |
