Mapleshade tweaks
I agree with Rccc. I did a two-week long cable shootout one time with their ICs and speaker cables and it was a joke. Not only didn't their cables "compare favorably to Valhalla" as their well written copy states, they didn't even compare favorabl...

Jethro Tull...any cd's to stay away from?
Among the earlier Tull Remastered CDs, IMHO SOUND-WISE only: Stand Up is great; Benefit not so good, LPs are better; Aqualung never has sounded good in any format I've ever heard, Thick as a Brick is quite good, Passion Play is much better than th...
Accidental improvement in performance...cheap
Best laugh I've had all week, Tafka_steve!
Music for toddlers and parents?
Sara Hickman has some nice CDs made for both kids and parents that I have listened to extensively with my kids and given as gifts over the years - check out her website. They Might Be Giants has some cool kids stuff out too!
Anti-cables VS. River Cable/cable lengths
I evaluated Mapleshade cable products and was not impressed. In comparison to my then reference Cardas Cross and Kimber ICs and speaker cables, their ICs were tipped up at the high end, somewhat glary (sp?) and while they sound good at first liste...
Anti-cables VS. River Cable/cable lengths
Call Robert at Audio Art, he'll custom make you anything you like, and will discuss your system and specific needs at length.
Anti-cables VS. River Cable/cable lengths
I performed several extended cable auditions, and ended up with Audio Art cables all around - very musical and balanced, compared to the Anti-Cables which I found overly spotlit the highs, shortened depth, and ultimately became fatiguing. YMMV, of...
Prog Rock.....Porcupine Tree?
The PT DVD is spectacular - excellent performance, sound & picture. The camera work and post-editing is quite innovative and edgy, but doesn't get in the way of the music. Funny moment at the encore when Steven Wilson breaks a guitar string ju...

Low price, quality cables for avalon ,CAT, shindo
Check out Audio Art cables - they have replaced some high priced spread in my all tube Cary/Shanling/VPI system to very good effect and at a very nice price.
for those who popped for "Hi-Fi Tuning" fuses...
The differences were heard in all components, but this is what I found in order of impact:1. Amp (Cary v12i)2. Preamp (Cary SLP98F1)3. CD Shanling t-100Couldn't find a fuse in my VPI Table :^DLike Ghosthouse, you can really tell when you take them...
Benchmark VS older ultrahigh end dac's in these...
I will second Marco's experiences with the Benchmark - have also tried it twice (two years apart, two different systems) and have returned it both times, for the same reason - the strident and ultimately fatiguing high end.I am currently demoing t...
whistling in the ears
I have it too, it's called tinnitus. It's not a disease, it's a direct result of things like noise damage, ear infections, etc. For me, according to the doc, it comes from having bad TMJ (jaw displacement/popping) plus playing in rock bands all my...
