Should a good system sound bad with bad recording?
your example would apply to some cases but there are many instances where dynamic range is not an issue, especially classical, non orchestra music.Mrtennis (Threads | Answers) Most live music has abundant dynamic range ...much more than an averag...
Should a good system sound bad with bad recording?
Gawdbless, One system I played it through at the show the speakers alone were $55000 and sounded well and truely awful (I am being polite). If quality costs money, why can't 'proper' systems do it?. My cheapo pc speakers can! Read my previous post...
Should a good system sound bad with bad recording?
the best recording with the worst system will sound better than the worst recording with the best system. as Confucious might say....BTW: I agree Mrtennis with you....at least to a certain point....An excellent recording however will NOT sound as...

Joan Biaz - "Diamonds and Rust" (can't recall which old album this came from but this is definitely up there with the very best)
Should a good system sound bad with bad recording?
If good is taken as accurate then absolutely yes, of course it should sound badIf good is taken as a nice sounding system with plenty of forgiveness, warmth and oodles of extra harmonic distortion in the bass and lower mid then NO. A system that c...

25' balanced ic that a mere mortal can afford?
Nsgarch is 100% right....you're just asking for trouble. To do this properly you need to add a separate balanced pre-pre-amp at the turntable end and prior to this long run. Save money, get some ordinary balanced IC from a music outlet (where they...
In-wall speaker recommendations
Yeah I have B&W's installed throughout house (bedrooms, bathrooms etc.) and outside in the garden on two levels too. My mains (not B&W) are in wall mounted also. Go for it.
High power rating=better speakers?
My experience is that this is all very deceptive. I have found 85 db sensitivity speakers that played much louder than 91 db sensitivity speakers. How is this possible? Very simple...the 87 db sensitivity had much larger Xmax specs on the drivers....
Subwoofer Question on Placement.
I find that the right or left wall - slightly in front of the left or right speaker works well in most cases. This way your sub is at the same distance to your listening position as your speakers...consequently transients should arrive coherently....
Anyon know of wallmounts for B&W 805's
Check out Omnimount, they are bound to have something. They handle everything even studio grade stuff (very heavy). Their website has only their basic lines.A google search for Omnimount 60 will show you some of their larger wall mount brackets to...
What should be the first component when upgrading?
IMHO speakers/room setup add the most colouration, distortion and have greatest impact on the sound. One can almost always hear a marked difference between two types of speaker. (not quite such a marked difference between amps/sources/cables) Spea...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
It depends on what you prefer - both can produce excellent sound.
Speaker suggestions
Sounds like you would be best served by near field monitors - move your listening position away from the back wall if you can. Bass is generally boomy if you sit close to the rear wall opposite the speakers
