Mid sized room -Full range vs Monitor
The fact that your rear wall ( behind the listening position ) is not concrete is a fantastic bonus....concrete is very reflective and will not leak out energy and consequently you may get overly long reverb times. The best place to have a "leaky"...
Paradigm Ref Studio 80's - Minimum Tube Power?
I second Duke....no more to add or say.
Behringer DEQ2496: Ease of Use
there's no clipping it's pretty impossible to hear this piece doing something wrong when it's being used entirely in the digital domain. Not sure - it depends what you mean by wrong....I agree in the sense of "distortion", however an EQ introduce...
Mastering for CD vs. Vinyl
Thanks for the heads up....I will steer clear of this release.
Genelec Speakers opinions
Efner, I've been a recording engineer for 37 years and have used Genelecs sometimes. Which model are you referring too that were so bad? I thought they have improved a lot recently...perhaps because they were losing market share to other monitors....
Donald Fagen's Nightfly - Love it or Hate it?
I think it is great but I find the drum tracks very artificial and tiring...catchy/distinctive at first then boringly monotonous. If you read up on it......they went back and edited the drum track and replaced every beat with one "ideal" recorded b...
How Much Power is Enough?
Would having more power make much of a difference? No. Not for what you describe. I'm looking for an amplifier that will bring about a wide soundstage, tighter bass, and exceptional smooth execution of mirco-detail. -have you considered room mod...
How do you determine how much to spend on speakers
Redwoodgarden,Well said.
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
Shadorne - I say quality recording is dying because that is what the "powers that be" want. And ultimately the consumer doesn't care - and so it goes. We are both saying the same thing. Agreed. We definitely agree. The problem is not the dying of ...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
The art of making an excellent recording seems to be dying. But the mainstream doesn't care - heck, they don't even notice with their poor quality playback systems. If you check pro audio forums you will see that recording/mastering engineers are...
How many pair of speakers do you own?
Counting stuff in storage as well (but not PC or car systems), 13 pairs of speakers. 1 set is Bose and should not really count but the rest are B&W or better...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
Arthur, there is nothing quite like the sound of air rushing down the venturi pipes when you accelerate. Fuel injection sounds so mechanical and precise, regimented and digital. LOL. Nostalgia... the gasoline smell of a flooded engine on a cold da...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
Pauly, I find your analogy of the carburetor and prediction of impending shortage of vinyl somewhat misplaced and unsubstatiated Vinyl has never been as available as it is now You are right I did not subtsantiate my remarks...but I suspect the wid...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
Pauly,What a shame for those of you who dislike any form of digital, as the audio/video industry seems so hell bent on digital. DVD, Satellite and HD TV are obvious winners againt VHS and old analog signal modulation transmission like AM/FM etc. O...
ATC active speakers, owners please give input
I have owned active ATC's for 8 years - never a problem so far. They run Class A until 2/3 power. If you are not familiar with actives be prepared for a level of detail that some may describe as tiring or too forward. Also the bass response will b...
