Hearing is believing?........power cables.......
@geoffkait Hel-loo! If as you say I live in a cave at least it is in the real world. You are living in a tin foil fantasy land. I hope you are delivering high quality coal to you local power station so that you can enjoy the improvement from burni...
Hearing is believing?........power cables.......
@geoffkait   Nothing I said is Strawman. You say SOTA gear improves with better power cords. FACT I do not contest that statement but ask is this acceptable from SOTA gear?I ask if it is not reasonable to expect SOTA gear to work properly without s...
Hearing is believing?........power cables.......
@geoffkait "Calling power cords "band aids" doesn’t change the fact that replacing stock power cords in high end well-designed electronics with better power cords usually improves the sound. "Ok ok so you say it is a fact.I agree it is a fact and ...
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
Manufacturers came up with cheaper plastic turntables in the 70’s and since then all manner of BS to justify saving money with a cheaper design. You only have to walk across the room to hear how badly lightweight designs perform. You can't beat ph...
Any Imelda May fans out there
Yes thanks to Jeff Beck!

Genelec is worth checking out.
Hearing is believing?........power cables.......
@geoffkait   OMG - so you really believe with all that money spent on the highest end gear that you can't even get a reliable power supply that filters out all mains noise - and therefore a band aid power cord is necessary. If you are correct then ...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
@audiolabyrinth I had the veneer done and serviced at the same time. New caps and new damper oil and a few parts. The main components like the direct drive are super reliable. Being a manual table there is not much that can go wrong. I use a Denon...

@geoffkait  Good to see you agree - electronics like Meitner which costs a small fortune really ought to have a decent power supply that filters out extraneous noise such that a band aid power cord is unnecessary.

It sure can make a difference. Such a pity that many audio electronics are so badly built that you need a band aid like this - but some cost only $100 and are a cheaper solution than upgrading the audio.

Heavier plinth and heavy platter is my preference. Lightweight should be for the tone arm.I never understood the advantage of a light plinth and platter except that it is cheaper to make and less shipping cost.
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
@jinjuku. That Ethernet packet noise might affect a badly designed DAC is not surprising. I recall early implementations of a USB in DACs also ran into problems (again badly designed equipment)It took over 15 years to develop asynchronous DACs tha...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
@audiolabyrinth "Seems like I’m collecting vintage turntable’s, I just obtained the pioneer pl-550 direct drive table, I already have the technics sl-1600mk2, can anyone tell me much about the pioneer?, at the moment, the technics seems to be in a...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
@almarg Of course AM radio is affected by unshielded Ethernet wires. This quite normal observation does not mean that in corollary the Ethernet signal has all kinds of digital static from the radio. Digital signals are extremely robust and there a...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
@almarg You start off with a euphemistic statement" I agree that sensitivity to ethernet cable differences is a manifestation of less than ideal behavior by the components that are involved."Come on. Seriously, there is NO advantage to making elec...
