What speaker cable made a major difference in the sound quality of your speakers??
My speaker cables cost more than your price range and were purchased new but honestly they make absolutely no difference at all to the sound. Extremely solid and the highest quality robust connection is all I have observed from using industrial/mi...

@charles1dad +1 You and Don are right. This thread is so diverse - thanks to all the wisdom displayed here and some great contributions. Perhaps the thread could be expanded even further! How about My Little Pony? Anyone have a favorite from a aud...
Does anyone notice a reduction in sound quality when a tuner is part of ther audio chain?
Yes for sure better gear will help. RCA connections share ground. XLR is a better option.Glad to see you don’t buy into the idea that your gear is so resolving that simply the proximity of the tuner will affect it. There are many tin toilers here ...

@douglas_schroeder  So let me get this straight. Audio gear that is 100% totally sensitive and completely transparent to the audio signal (music) with zero distortion or coloration or any artifacts from power, Ethernet cables or other external non...

Bill,I think the point is that we can hear differences. Fortunately I have a setup that does not emphasize minute differences in wires or the digital source or power cord or whatever extraneous. All the focus, accuracy and precision is on the sour...

Burning in electronics without playing music is like breaking in a car on cruise control - not recommended. All the gears and moving parts in your electronics are not getting a varied enough workout. Like with oil in the car it is a good precautio...

@folkfreak  I have observed jitter problems with DSP DACS and even CD players. I am aware of jitter transmission issues with clock signals.Since I moved to Benchmark DAC's about a decade ago I have not had any jitter issues (at least not audible o...

@douglas_schroeder I don’t agree.I prefer to buy audio equipment that maximizes the source signal and minimizes errors from unintended pathways like Ethernet or power supply, humidity, temperature etc.I am sorry but I don’t care what expensive nam...
Let's talk Tweeters!
ATC have built their own tweeter in the last five years. Previously they used Excel and before that Vifa and before that Audax (40+ years of pro audio) It took many years years to develop and they regard Excel tweeters as extremely good - so impro...
Best Ratios for a Newly Constructed Listening Room
Golden ratio works. So 12 by 20 would be ideal!!!
Please Critique my Setup and Recommend Upgrade(s)
"nix the ELACs and invest in some more efficient and higher end loudspeakers,e.g. Devore, ATC, ProAc, etc?"Yes. If your budget allows I would go for Active ATC SCM25A, 40A or 50A. Of course it will be night and day.
Speaker Break In Question - going from single wired to bi-wired
@garebear No worries. I am not going anywhere. Have a good one!
Speaker Break In Question - going from single wired to bi-wired
Makes no difference. New or old wires. Break in is not needed for wires and for speakers we are talking may be a few hours if anything at all. My drivers are stress tested before installation - so break in is not needed at all.If your speakers nee...
