Integrated Amps: Arcam & Audio Refinement
Unless you plan on buying new, you can find the Audio Refinement for between 5-600 dollars. Or maybe less if you are lucky. I've owned one four different times. I've since moved on, but was always very happy with it's performance and am convinced ...
no bass after 6 month non-use
Sometimes too, if speakers haven't been used in a while, they may need to break in again. Not as much as if they were brand new, but may still require a little time.
It's the middle of summer and I need a...
Look into the new digital amps. Coolest amps around. ICE technology is the wave of the future. Maybe.
B&W Nautilus 800.....where's the bass?
Judy426, B&W is not used in any true reference system? Apparently Skywalker Sound doesn't count as reference since they have (5) 801's around the room. Most classical recording studios have used B&W for their reference for many, many years...
Idiotic Vertical Biamping Question
Your explanation of vertical biamping is close. Each channel does send out full range signals. However, when you run a signal to the amp from the pre amp, it's only one channel. You either need two sets of outputs on your preamp, or a "Y" adapter ...
Did anyone have the Polk audio LS speakers?
I had the LS 70 back in '98. I thought they were excellent speakers. Of course, I only paid 450 for the pair. My guess is the newer Vandersteens will take the thrill right out of the Polks, however.
Integrated amplifier - selection and alternatives
With a sensitivity rating of 83 db, I'd be more tempeted to use a higher powered integrated than 100 wpc. I think the the Musical Fidelity A5 would do just fine.
NeoNewbie---Using unused speaker channels?
Racarlson is exactly right. The signal from the front speaker channels and the surround channels isn't even the same.
Burmester CD 03 sampler
I agree with cornfed. I own disc two and it is excellent. I bought it from my local dealer. I listened to disc three and really did not care for it. You might want to do a search for Burmester dealers across the country and see if they have any ex...
HDCD question.....
Elizabeth is exaclty correct. It is in the D/A unit. The transport does not matter.
Spade on spade or banana and spade?
Try both ways, they will both work, use what is comfortable with you.
Musical Fidelity A 308 integrated vs. Moon I-5 LE
I can only comment on the 308, since, of the above, that is all I have owned. But, I will say I did hear a couple combinations of audio physic speakers and the 308, and I was very impressed by the sound. The two companies mate very well together. ...
Why don't kids nowadays know about Jazz and classi
Most adults I know don't know about jazz or classical. It depends on who you grew up with and where. My parents, and my parents friends don't know about jazz. They are about 55. The only people I know educated on music like that are older audiophi...
B&W 804s or 703s?
Henryk, thanks for your thoughtful, well written post. It added a lot, I'm sure the person inquiring appreciates it.James, if you have the option, try and audition both in your room. I've always thought the Nautilus line was quite a bit better tha...
Which Hootie and the Blowfish album to buy ?
I agree with Hack, although, I believe that album was simply titled "Cracked Rear View"
