Townshend Springs under Speakers
if the speaker is on solid ground, 3 spikes is preferred. That is not my experience.  The isolation provided by Isoacoustics Gaia works better on my speakers than spikes on concrete floor with tile finishing.
Which Harbeths?
Just to add on to the above excellent post by Arafiq. I understand the OP is disappointed with the hype surrounding the Harbeth and is not willing to try other amps. To reiterate, the Harbeth really come to their own with select amps as they sound...
Weak link, what do ya think ?
This looks like an AV setup with the turntable being the odd diamond. I would slowly replace everything in the system. The last one standing would be the SF Grand Piano home speaker which is the strongest link.
Which Harbeths?
If all else fails, the Harbeths are not for you then.
Which Harbeths?
Amplifier (and source/DAC if it’s not transparent enough).Investigate the gear if you want to salvage the Harbeth. I’m not sure about the Mcintosh you have. Try other options such as Pass Labs, higher range LFD or Naim etc. Use open frame lightwei...
Smooth & Fusion Jazz, New Age Music Recommendation (Guitar, Piano)
Thanks for the recommendation.
Cellular phone and speakers?
The iPhone doesn't have binding posts to connect to speakers. I'm not sure if you can add binding posts to the iPhone with suitable accessories. Best bet is to add a small shoebox amp.
DAC That Punches Above Its Price Point
I did not state a budget because I’m not sure where the best value DAC lies in the price/performance envelope before point of diminishing returns kick in. From few posts here, it appears that giant killer options do not exist which is comprehensib...
Sugden/Allnic or Luxman L-509X?
Wahoostewjr- curious is the Sugden a little more neutral than the Luxman? I’ve owned various Luxman amps for 20 years and one day I just stepped away from the golden tone and never looked back.May I ask which Luxman models which showed the golden ...
Owning the speakers you dreamed of 20 years ago
Contrary to most here, the speakers I dreamed of owning 20+ years ago now look like junk to me. Well, that’s a bit of exaggeration but the fact is they don’t appeal to me anymore. It’s more to the looks than sound quality.I recall reading about th...
What comes after Harbeth 30.1s?
@whipsaw Thanks for the post. Your response is surely useful, no further information on the Marten is required. Apologies to OP for the thread hijack. I’ll make it short. Three hours with the Parker Duo at the dealer, impressive. When I was at th...
What comes after Harbeth 30.1s?
Whipsaw, how did you find the Marten Parker Duo? Did you manage to listen to the Oscar Duo and Duke 2? The Parker Duo is the top-of-the-range standmount in the Marten line of speakers so I would expect it to sound better than the other two models,...
The Luxman L-595A SE integrated is coming.
What is the difference in sound quality between the 595A SE and 590AXII? Any reviews?
Recommendations for speakers with Luxman 509x
If you read the OP’s post, he is limited to less than 2’ from the wall for placement of speakers. For the SHL5 and SHL5+, they require 2’ to 2.5’ from the wall to sound good. Anything less they sound congested. I suspect the 40.1/40.2 require more...
Recommendations for speakers with Luxman 509x
40.1 / 40.2 is too big for the 14’ x 18’ room as they are rather huge and require space from the walls to sound good. SHL5+ fits in rather nicely though.
