Have you moved away from full range to standmount speakers + subs?
Match the speakers to the size of the room. What’s the size of the room? I’m not sure what qualifies as a "full range" speaker. Perhaps one that goes down to 20 - 25 Hz ± 3dB? I’ve never owned large speakers with drivers more than 10" in my life. ...
Fritz Carrera BE vs. Harbeth 30.1
larsman149 posts11-04-2021 1:09amInteresting comparisons! I've got a pair of Fritz Carrerra BE's and Harbeth Super SL-5; right now the Fritz's are what I'm using in my 2-channel system. I don't know whether I'm going to keep or sell the Harbeth...
Dynaudio Confidence C1 MKI treble
From the description it appears that the Dynaudio Confidence mk1 sounds even more rolled off in the treble than Harbeth speakers. Although the bass and midrange may sound superb, a single element in the rolled off treble would have ruined everythi...
Fritz Carrera BE vs. Harbeth 30.1
Nice writeup Arafiq. Your impressions on the Harbeth and Fritz share an almost similar resemblance to my experience with the Harbeth and Marten. In the end I kept both as I can't make up my mind. Each has their own sets of strengths and weaknesses.
Isolation Feet Recommendation for Equipment Rack
There are so many other options other than Townshend. Have you looked at all the isolation and vibration control threads in the archives?Yes, I have searched the archives but did not find many options on isolation for the rack. I read about Nobsou...
Isolation Feet Recommendation for Equipment Rack
Neither style was quite right for me so I just took em apart ditched the bracket and put the Pods two per corner. No pics of that yet.I’m not sure how it will look like after you took them apart but you will still need 2 units supporting 1 pillar ...
Isolation Feet Recommendation for Equipment Rack
Thanks for the recommendation. These look pretty unique with a pair consisting of 2 units supporting a point load. One feet looks better than a pair of feet but I guess that’s the way Townshend products work. If I ever end up with these, they will...
Isoacoustics Orea vs Townshend Seismic Pod on Components
Hi Robert. You brought up an important subject. The equipment rack in my main system is Finite Elemente Spider with Ceraball Spider feet at each supporting level and Cerabase footers at the bottom of the 4 pillars. The equipment rack in my 2nd sys...
Isoacoustics Orea vs Townshend Seismic Pod on Components
Reading the finicky setup of the Nobsound, in my limited experience this applies to the Isoacoustics Gaia too but perhaps to a lesser extent. Most people will just take things for granted, setting up the footers and then expect them to work well w...
LFD Advice?
My single experience with LFD Zero LEIII. Glorious treble and midrange with a fast, tight and tuneful bass. Very good integrated if you like a very open sound and illuminating treble which has a certain tube like quality to it. Drawbacks include b...
Isoacoustics' Gaia eliminated a 120Hz mode
Another point is the Gaias have rated capacities to cater for different loadings. This just shows the importance of loading them correctly. They will fall out of the performance envelope if not properly loaded. I presume it is better to have a hig...
Isoacoustics' Gaia eliminated a 120Hz mode
I read somewhere that with a correctly set up Gaia (logo facing the front or rear), the speakers can sway slightly from side to side but stay firm on the other axis without any movement at all. As for leveling, agreed that it doesn’t make much sen...
Accuphase E-480
Lalitk, Thanks for the comprehensive and detailed impressions on the E650. Very well written, certainly useful and appreciated. I’m not going to add much here. I pretty much agree with your thoughts on synergy and the merits of Class A solid-state...
Isoacoustics' Gaia eliminated a 120Hz mode
Give it few days to settle down. In my experience the bass and everything showed more presence and impact after few days of settling down. Basically a more fleshed out and open sound with improved clarity and macrodynamics.I am not sure if this is...
Isoacoustics' Gaia eliminated a 120Hz mode
I use a pair of Gaia II with Marten Duke 2. The Gaias are very effective as they improved everything across the frequency spectrum. The largest improvement was with the bass but the midrange and treble also gained some clarity and sophistication. ...
