Where's the talk/reviews on the Emotiva UMC-200?
I've owned 3 Emotiva components, and used to be a big fanboy of theirs. Nobody could tell me different, I'd get into debates about how good their gear sounded. At the time I lived in a condo and couldn't turn it up due to neighbours. Then I moved ...
Help with a Projector.
Nasty situation, I had a similar situation, except it turned out to be a heat damaged panel in a Hitachi projector.
Do I esentially have a class A amp?
I suppose that's true. In my circumstance, I bought a 250 wpc Parasound amp, and as it turns out I don't like the volume above maybe 10 wpc with my speakers in my room! I could have bought a 100wpc amp instead. But on the other hand, I do occasion...
Do I esentially have a class A amp?
I run my system under 85db and my speakers are 91 sens. With my Parasound A21 running the first 10 watts in class A, I'm in the same position.
Bob Carver LLC has been purchased by Emotiva
And continuing with the wife analogy, Emotiva married Sherbourn to use her rep and contacts as a way to gain influence. But it seems that oil and water do not mix, (Emo even tried an affair with TacT on the side)so she was cast aside when she coul...
Legendary used amp, or economical new one?
Buying a 30 yr old amp is buying something that will break down soon, may not be running within spec any more and is just risky in my opinion. I've owned 3 Emotiva products, including one of their XPA amps. They can suffer from solid state harshne...
WYRED4SOUND STP-SE IN HOUSE UPGRADES
Wyred does indeed have another model, the mPre. It's lower in the line up, so the upgrade to the STP is a way of adding upscale options. It's way beyond my budget, but I'd consider it among others in the 3000 range if I was shopping there. YMMV.
WARM 5 channel amp - suggestions?
Parasound is an option, you might find the Halo A51 for under 3000. Their lower tier 5250v2 is also an option, although it's recently been discontinued. Audio Advisor has a demo on sale for 2000. These are both 250 watts per channel so they might ...
Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps
I thought of another one, Dusty Springfield had a killer voice that put her head and shoulders above anyone else in the late 60's. I dare you to listen to "Windmills of your Mind" or "This Girl's in Love With You". You'll see what I mean.
Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps
Never heard of her until I randomly bought a Sugarland CD. Step out of your comfort zone and listen to Jennifer Nettles singing "What I'd Give". Simply jaw dropping.
What do audiophiles listen in their cars?
Some cars have very noisy interiors that make good systems pointless. Most of your economy priced cars are in this category, with some VW's and Chevy Cruze being exceptions. With the mid size sedans the sound deadening and audio systems takes a big...
Alarm Clock with Audiophile Grade Sound?
Outlaw Audio has a current model I think by Cue Acoustics. Cnet gave it a good review and it comes with an ipod dock and an optional second speaker.
Oppo 105 USB Asynchronous DAC
Not directly, no. I have an Oppo 95 and Oppo does not interface with Ipod, you have to buy a dock that takes the digital feed and bypasses the ipod's DAC. There are a few options but not cheap. Cambridge Audio makes the iD100 and Pure i20 can be h...
Amp with best bass control
Whoops, brain fart, I was thinking class D!
Amp with best bass control
Isn't Class A supposed to be superior for bass control? Wyred 4 Sound is one example.
